  4. Patina to me would be old worn paint. Different color pieces, some primer spots. But generally old paint.

What is going on with the trunk lid on this '57? The more I stare at it, the more I feel like I'm being sucked into another dimension.

That was an awesome story until you got to the sad part about not owning a 57

This is the kind of old paint I wish my '57 had. Instead I have 3 layers of pink, red, and white, all flaking off at different rates and of varying thicknesses.

  11. Well, the steering wheel might be worth 5 or 10 bucks, but the rest of it??? Kinda worthless in my opinion. I wouldn't take it for free but my state doesn't use titles for old cars.

The B pillars have some value to someone converting a 4 door into a 2 door sedan, the dash frame would be worth something if it's not rotted through, and the title has some value too, assuming the matching tags are there, but not a whole lot. If that car were next door to me I'd pay $200 for it, and I'd take the tags off, cut out the dash and sell it, and cut the B posts off for a future 4 door conversion. Probably a handful of other good bits worth saving on there too. Steering column, swing pedals, probably some brackets and whatnot here and there.

As an example, I paid $400 for this '57 150 this summer which did not have a title or any tags left, but it had interior rear quarter window garnish, a very rough but saveable lower back seat frame, stick pedals and column, a pretty nice dash frame, and lots of small bits. I was very happy to buy it for that price.

Thanks.......we are getting in ball park. What I'm looking at is a Belair with title and supposed to have most if not all stainless and seat frames with springs.

That is a game changer, the Belair 2 door sedan side window surround stainless moldings are worth a lot, like an easy grand for the set if they're not junk, and the front seat frame if it's nice can bring $500-$600. If I were offered a Belair 2 door post that had all of the window surround trims and seat frames, I'd be willing to pay up a lot more than I paid for the '57 150.

Here's pics I just found of a '56 210 I bought about 15 years ago and stripped for parts. Nothing went to waste, i stripped this car really well, but today this might even be considered a fixable car. Seems the bar on what's restorable gets lowered every year.

I also had this '55 hardtop which was worse than it looked but I sold it to someone who intended to fix it, I hope it made it back on the road eventually.

And also this old drag car '55 hardtop, which got traded to a young guy who had been working on it but I think it got resold, not sure what ever became of this one. Was rough, but neat looking.

I got rid of this car about 15 years ago, before these were all the rage.

I was going to try to do something with this but sadly there is not a lot to work with.

What was left of the Dusk Pearl/Imperial Ivory on my '57 the day I found it. It still looks roughly the same but will be getting paint for sure because the roof and hood are pretty much completely bare and what you see is surface rust.
