Here are couple speed control signs that make me chuckle...

 

This one brings me back to the start of my drag racing fascination. Was at school during recess when I was 11 years old and heard it start up. Went over after school to see where that SOUND was coming from and saw this and I was hooked for life.

I'm guessing that must be him standing a few feet away from that topless blond,
standing on the dark colored coupe's running board,waving her bra...

 

Yeah, buddy. Pitted for Bob Taylor from Lompoc for an open comp race at Ascot in late '70. First time at the track for Bob. His "new" '57 Chevy set fast time out of the hundred forty some-odd entrants but he blew the engine while he was leading.

That 57 chevy reminded me of a dear old friend, Oren Prosser (Roraren Oren) he was a staple at another one of my old favorite tracks, Saugus Raceway he was also a champion there. He was racing Sr. Midgets at Ventura Raceway a few years ago, happy times.

 

That’s it, just keep looking at that roadster while I slip away with your coupe.
