  5. strange thing about that comment.....
my dad shipped off to the service just after they came out and he saw them....he wanted one when he gets back. Sure enough late 60's when they were cheap old/used cars he got both, coupe and roadster. Think he paid between 800-1200 each. guess i'll call myself lucky... dad don't sell his old cars and both are still in the family:)

Now that is a heart warming story. My family failed to save any.

    This MUST be built.
Too many things right about the concept. Proportions, aerodynamics, NACA duct side scoops, ducted lay-down radiator GT40 style, 1955 Ford Fairlane roof, chrome windshield A-pillar surround from retro Thunderbird, Halibrand wheels etc.

ETA: Do it on a C5 chassis that's only two inches longer wheelbase than C1.

Loveoftiki posted this picture which I only wish I could come across a picture of this 62 with permission to use it. This is Ed Wilson's 62 at the 68 Nationals with tuning by Bill May. It was a 340 horse "stock" E/SP entry. He won class but in eliminator he would have had to go through Lombardo with his 61 Buckshot which no one was successful in the end. Head to head though I would have chosen Wilson. He was running a few tenths quicker in competition and had earlier in the year set the ET record for class at 12.16 and mph record (114.5) at Englishtown. Even more impressive is he had dipped into the high 11s at the time. Not too shabby for a "stock" 340 IMO.

Anyone know of an Ed Wilson photo where the photographer is known and alive to secure permission please feel free to let me know. C5D485CA-C857-4003-B2AA-0A64D6379BFE.jpeg

Yes it is on the Corvette Forum there are some picks there

I spent 3+ days with a pressure washer and a shop Vac trying to
get the remains of Packrat shit, dog shit and cactus and everything else that I am not able to ID.
I Think the cactus is even embedded in the headers and A arms and inner fenders because every day since I have been working on it I am finding spots on my fingers and hands with spines stuck in them
I'm waiting on some slicks for these 8" wheels so I can get it up on the lift

I believe Bob Wingate passed away in the last year or two.

"passed Sunday 9-15-19 from heart complications. He was born August 17, 1936 and lived a good long life in Glendale, California."

That rendering, photoshop, whatever, falls under the category of "someone has way too much time on their hands".
