My 62 Belair was in storage for 15 years, I recently brought it home, I’ve been storing parts and cleaning it up. Today I started oiling the engine before starting the body work. C0696EC3-7C6A-4CCA-BBD3-C4BF71A0766C.jpeg DC611268-A5CF-4202-BFDA-4F02DD7DBD4A.jpeg

  2. Well I said one hot rod was enough after selling the Coleman 32. Today that all changed when I bought another 32 five window that I had five years ago. It was the nicest 32 body and fenders that I ever seen. All original parts! Anyway I started working on this five years back and decided it was too nice to chop etc.. I sold it to friend and it sat for five years and now I own it again and plan on taking it to the finish line. Soon as I fix my plow I will start on this 32 when not working on my roadster. it's back home again!

Thanks Randy, I have a fresh 468ci motor in it that made good power, it’s got a turbo 350 transmission. The car came from Kentucky it was a low mileage rust free car. I did a frame off on it. My goal is to keep the car a stock looking, the interior is the original, it was black with a white top, I’ve lowered it and we’ll see where it goes.

That steering really needs tighten up. You have over 2" of play. I would have somebody turn the wheel side to side off the center a couple inches while I look at the front steering linkage, I would try to tighten the lash on the box...

Knowing friends are at El Mirage dry lake beds this week doing land speed racing I got the speed itch.

Some quick math and my goal was to hit 90mph (3,750 rpm) on the re-freshened original splasher 6 cyl in my 37 Hudson. You can hear the clutch slipping a bunch (74mph, 80mph, etc.) ultimately hitting 91mph!

No seatbelts, no airbags, 83 year old technology, driving with one hand & video taping with the other..... what could go wrong?

Doesn’t mean much but back putting an old Rupp Chaparral go kart back together again. Was my sons, then grandsons and now preparing for the next generation. New axle in today... lots of new parts coming. Upholstery at a shop, outer rims out for chrome, and B&S Raptor for power. Final photo will be here.
PS: the 2 minibkes were finished last week. Both in storage for 10 years. Youngest grandson is now a lineman apprentice at 22. DD091209-0933-4613-8D5D-F1A7C1DC5EE6.jpeg

The Corvette has always leaked bad when it rains so I pulled the windshield off to replace the rubber gasket the goes between it and the body. Took the windshield frame to Randy at Yesterday’s Corvettes and he is also putting in a new rubber gasket around the glass.
Seats are going in to be recovered also. 62767060124__60C8AF49-9F6D-4A76-AA9C-FB8EAC953C93.JPG 62767957471__8AC81069-76D3-45C6-B31C-A8A018923A77.JPG 62767960092__01F8215D-A09A-44E6-9CC4-BDDB3C9CAF84.JPG 62767989601__213A4783-2B82-4467-AD90-078369E6C05D.JPG 62767993766__BDB19D47-542B-4FFB-8B95-71BC8547AAC1.JPG

Today I worked up a single Model A spindle that I have been holding on to.

I cut everything off of the back side, and made some passes in the lathe, to make a nice flat, perpendicular surface, so it can be welded to my wheel building jig.

The slight raised area fits the ID of the tubing it will be welded to.

The plan is to drill and tap the hub for all common 5-lug patterns. I also have a Wide-5 adapter.

I already have three orders for pairs of wider Wide-5s, and a pair wider Ford 15s.

I’m curious to your use of a spindle for this, I/e since you have a lathe. I’d guess not enough swing for a wheel? Or just making a separate fixture? If so, I’d like to see what your process is for rotating it and tacking things together.

When my Dad and I were doing drive shafts for big trucks, we got creative and made a set of rollers to clamp in the drive shaft instead of reclamping the ground.

My job after tacked in was to slowly spin things by hand. Lol
