Don't really have a way of uploading other picks of her right now , but because of the way I built the grill surround on my 51 { another upper 51 flipped upside down and hand built curve corners} I have never been happy with the way the factory bumper lines up with it. A side from peaking the original wit parts from another 51 that I have. I was thinking maybe 56 Chevy or 54 Ford . Even if I have to cut and shape to get exactly what I want. Can anyone use this pic of my avatar and give me an idea. Thanks Larry

Thanks Moose. I got a Chevy in the parts stash, Have to pull it out and see what tweaking needs to be done for width and profile. I like it. something a
bit different and kind of mimics the rear bumper shape. Larry

How about a Bailon style tube bumper? I matched it a up with a tube grille, but you could use anything. Here's
Bailon's Sonny Morris Merc to compare.

let's revisit this one and make it my own.

    2 (1).jpg

first, let's take buzz out of the picture. i have 40 ford style 16" wheels, 4" wide in the front and 5-1/2" wide out back. maybe make them copper in color and shod them with 7.50-16 in the rear and 6.00-16's up front firestone bias ply deluxe champions. blackwall please.
my T body still has the original patina'd dark green paint. make the roof all black. i'm not sure about the white band at the cowl/firewall. was thinking on making a vertical finned aluminum firewall for the mostly visible top half. the deuce grill can stay.
so can the chrome side exhaust. maybe do a better representation of a cast Yblock rams horn exhaust manifold. the valve covers i have are polished vertical finned. that should do it for starters. i picked buzz's car for the amount of chop and it's stance.
one last thing, i'm free to your guy's interpretation if you have better ideas. just don't go cutting the roof off this one madfish:)

Thinking of getting much taller tires for the rear and a little taller in front. And I don't have a current profile pic of my car as it is in my avatar if you can make it red so I get a better idea of the taller tires. Appreciated.

copper wheels aren't working for me. maybe another color but don't ask me what. i have a degree of color blindness that negates me me from making correct decisions. i'll probably end up rattle canning them a satin black and not run any caps.
so maybe a version with satin black wheels with chrome lug nuts.
i know, i'm taking this farther away from the show rod and leaning heavier on the hot rod.

moose and the rest of you guys rock, i, for one really appreciate all you do on this thread.

Putting a different grille on the front of my roadster meant making a new hood and side panels. Since I can’t match the old purple color I’m thinking of making it all 0621265E-DAE2-425C-B47C-5658C308DDB1.jpeg 34F78D38-9344-4B79-A53A-DD1E39B9B3DB.jpeg black this time. I’m also wondering how the car would look with painted grille bars, either black like the rest of the car, or yellow like the wheels, or another color. Thank you in advance for any efforts to adjust my colors. HFH.

Those upper rear door corners are killing me. Any chance we could see what they would look like if they were rounded?

    From another HAMBer's thread:

"About a month ago I pulled this 1939 Merc out of a barn in Utah, it was built during the 40s and 50s by a couple of brothers. They chopped, channeled, shortened and sectioned it. Has a lift off top from and old Chevy. Last time it was registered was 64. Has a V8 265 motor. Here are some pics."

Anyway, I'd like to provide a bit of inspiration for him. Can I see this shot with a two tone (gold roof and rear body with dark emerald green on the shorty door and front end)? Of course it needs a trunk lid. I can't tell what kind of bumper is sticking out of the trunk, but if you can, go with that. Otherwise, use your judgment. Maybe some '52-'53 Lincoln caps for something different. White walls or blackwalls...? Not sure what to do with the rectangular rear window. tapatalk_1605494238039.jpeg

  28. Just one more favor. Could you please make the wheels black with the black scallops. Thank you..
