With Jeff posting the "Brothers Brown" Fiat above I thought I would provide a little knowledge I have of a couple of cars and one motor...

This Altered was originally built by the Ridler Brothers and then sold to future Canadian Top Fuel Racer Scott Wilson. Note the front mounted SBC motor, it has a history.

    10887160_924037400954344_2863661605014188356_o.jpg

Wilson at some point sold the car to the team of Roger Miller and Glen Gregory who continued to run the "Pack Rat" with the same motor. Wilson went on to other things including this top fuel car and eventually Oswego Supermodifieds JtNkSd8l.jpg JMWUiU9l.jpg Scott Wilson in his Supermodified down from London Ontario_ Canada_-1.jpg

The Pack Rat kept up the tradition of a successful and beautiful racer. There is that motor again... 69640471_2341461132788023_654868038876659712_o.jpg

The car was sold to the Brothers Brown who took the blower motor out of the Pack Rat and installed it in their Fiat...

The altered was then sold to Brooke DeShaw (RIP). As a kid I always referred to the car as a 23T but I believe the car started life as a Dodge Coupe. Brooke used to take us to St. Thomas where his 14 year old BIL became the push car driver and I got the job of pumping up the fuel pressure on the starting line.

    8X3piUIl.jpg 1S8r8Iql.jpg zjqhsXml.jpg

Brooke sold the car after a couple of season and it became "The Avenger" with perhaps the same small block but with Hilborn Injection. After a few years the car disappeared although some believe it still exists as a hot rod in the Orillia, Ontario area. No confirmation has ever been made.

The supercharged motor is still around. It has a long history...That is good.

Sandy Elliot and Barrie Pool were one of the best to come out of Canada hands down. Later on they had the "Border Bandits" Mustangs which were multi national event winners in super stock.

One of my all time favourites, along with the Canadian II, from my time as a kid at Mission Raceways (notice my avatar yet?). A few years back at the Abbotsford car show that had the Syndicate Scuderia dragster and the Willys that had moved to Calif. The Willys had the original name on one side and it's new name on the other.

This is inside the nose of the Syndicate Scuderia dragster.
The unwashed would bend over to have a look in the hole.

The current track at Mission is good but every time I go I have this feeling that it's not quite up to the old track's vibe. I glad the new track is there but it's sure not the same as the old one.

The City of Mission has big plans for the riverfront, as in residential development. As far as I gather the land owners in the surrounding area want a business park which would be perfect for the track. The land owners and the city are in a battle as to which direction they want to proceed.

  28. The land owner just east of the starting line of Mission Raceway Park and BCCCA are united against the City of Mission's attempt to turn their, and our land into a residential development.
It's just not in the future as far as we are concerned.

As you know I'm sure, the same thing happened to the Westwood Circuit, from what I've read, the backstory was as you speak of the Mission strip.
