I have a 48 216 with a stuck lifter that I broke trying to free it.I didn't realize they're hollow. I have a later 235 with the cam /lifters still in it. Are the cam/lifters interchangeable as long as they're both solid lifter engines ?

I dont know the answer to your question, but I do have a question regarding your question. Why not drop the 235 in and use it instead of the 216?

there may be a difference in the cams as it relates to the distributor. some are cast steel vs forged or somethin like that. the gear on the dizzy has to match the material of the cam.

In '54 the journal diameter is changed mid-year, so you'll want to verify the year - early '54 and older has same size as a 216. No idea whether they interchange.

That's what I was thinking, the 235 was in a early 60's truck so it won't fit. Thanks for the info.

From what I have read the cams are made from different materials,if the 235 cam would fit the block the 235 distributor would have to be used if it fits.
