@Roothawg I lease at one point I almost bought this place but the upkeep and taxes would’ve killed me. The whole building is HUGE... really lucky to be here though. Anybody passing though Mn please stop and visit!

Just read right through, finished the roadster thread too, now to the pickup thread.
What an awesome build! @Tuck your analogy of glass & rubber ball's will be one I repeat. I appreciate your attitude. Looking forward to other updates.

    I guess I am but indirectly…

I’m working on the quad grill shell plug, should have the mold ready in the next month. I’ll post pics when it’s ready.

I reinforced with spray foam and wood so I could body work it into shape with filler. This one will be better than the original IMHO.

I also ordered all the stuff for brakes for the coupe along with the truck because it was cheaper to do so all at once.

The body I plan to paint in black lacquer and shock it when it’s -40 outside so it cracks and checks. I may change the color but for now it’s going to be a black car.

I also have a strong urge to build it a little more Midwest low instead of so raked like it was but we will see… I will have to do some mock-ups with the finished shell… and who knows sometimes I think it would just look rad with a deuce shell and single headlights.

For the plug I need to extend the fiberglass down and make a lip (90 degree ledge) that goes around the entire bottom of the plug for the mold, then when they are laid up and pulled you can cut that off and then cut to fit your rails etc. IMG_9182.jpeg IMG_9152.jpeg IMG_9151.jpeg
there is a wood framework inside, the blue foam is just filler to support the spray foam. The spay foam is just to support the outer shell so it doesn’t move while adding a skim coat of filler and surfacer to make a nice plug.

I have always wanted to run a blower since I was a kid… and being that I’m not getting any younger I was like fuck it. I found a 394 blower intake from Gary’s son Nick Choppit. I plan to run a 6-2 blower top from Aaron Von Minden so I can still run the carbs and SP tops I have.

Looking for a 671 blower. I’m beyond excited to head down this road! IMG_6875.jpeg
I think a blower will look Bitchen on this car…

Glad you haven't forgotten about this build, though I'm sure you hadn't. :D the blower will set it off beautifully!

I'll bet Jeff is smart enough and has the equipment to convert a diesel blower himself, good ones can be had for a few hundred bucks, kits to convert and end plates for a few more.
you could have one for half that price.

The first edition of the Pat Ganahl super charger book has all the info for building one but he took it out of the second edition.

  18. @Tim Do you, or anyone for that matter, have the first edition and can post a picture of the cover. I googled searched but didn't come up with clear info. Thanks

the copy I am holding there has an entire chapter covering in detail the conversion of a 4-71 diesel to gas for the street, that would be essentially the same for the 6-71

I don’t have a link handy but I was doing some digging and there is a tech right here on the hamb on how to convert a 671! thanks for posting those books, gives me something else to keep an eye out for too.

I plan to convert one. There is one close to me for 600 in really nice shape, not sure what the going rate for one is that hasn’t been converted in times of inflation but I have time to hunt for one.

Thanks guys this is gonna be fun!

  25. A couple years ago I paid $300 Canadian for one. They aren’t hard to convert, there’s a very good 5 or 6 part video on YouTube of a conversion.
