Please don’t sit around waiting for Pennsylvania to count mail in votes; The AACA is hosting its national fall show, cancelled at Hershey, at Gettysburg this weekend. Saturday November 7 will see hundreds of great cars at the Wyndham hotel complex, located at RT. 30 and 15. Free admission, free parking (I think). Please bring a mask and wear it!
Not true. They are not publicizing the event to limit the crowd, but it is open to the public. They may take your temp while you’re in your car. Go and enjoy the day.
No swap meet. I have ‘37 Cadillac parts and ‘46 Chevy truck parts that I typically sell at Hershey. If anyone wants those, I can bring them along if arranged in advanced. I suppose we could flash back to Hershey in 1954 and just throw some parts on the ground along the edge of the car show. About 6-8 people did. The next year the number doubled and someone described it as a “flea market”- which was a term for open air markets in Paris. Soon after that, a club official remarked: “We’re going to have to do something about that flea market before it takes over the whole show”. Forward thinking people amaze me.
In my mind, I questioned the sanity of AACA scheduling a show in Pennsylvania in November but the forecast is for 70 degrees. Shows what I know !
............Yes, some beautiful weather for this first week in November. We should enjoy it while we can............Don.
.......It's tempting, Steve. Just have too much stuff to get done here........In retirement, I've gotten bad about putting things off. I need to stop that.
I did both! The Carlisle Fairgrounds was the perfect spot got the swap meet; and the Wyndham Hotel Complex in Gettysburg is becoming a great place to host a large car show. Frosty early in the morning, 75 and pure sunshine in the afternoon.
