...hard to believe this was 1950...Paul Harris managed 131mph with his flathead powered Deuce Roadster...not enough to haul metal but darn quick nonetheless...quite the Tracknose and the side pipes look quite modern for the time...

I think both of these Hotrods fall into the theme of the Thread even though the lower of the two is more of a venture into the wild zone...kind of has a Sebastian Rubbo Roadster lean to it...

I've always liked chrome Deuce Grille shells...as well...

... @GEBHARD for what it's worth I found the image I was thinking of shared by @Murphy32...just a wild Hotrod any way you slice it...I'm thinking the B x W image is perhaps the late 40s early 50s...

Those are a bit more full and stylish but i cant stand the small cylce fenders.
I wonder what happened to this roadster i really like the front end treatment.

A lot of the cars in this thread seem too have made it into the little pages.

That must have been one of those special protected classes for Ford only like the special classes at Bonneville. :D
This is an amazing video but brutal:

Historic and certainly paints the less glamorous side of the hobby...I remember that one...I was recently on one of those racing sites and the loss of life back in the day was moving very much like watching this incredible footage...

I appreciate but also struggle with videos like this. Mainly because it is exceptional footage and I’m glad it is there for the viewing, but at the same time there’s lots of pain and loss. I just can’t bring myself to hit the “like” button

I agree and as someone who attended races where these kinds of scenes played out, though thankfully no often, I sense the horror. As a teenager through my uncle's bar I had access to a group of older sprint car and midget racers. Their stories were sometime gory and gruesome but they still raced. In the video it astonished me at how many of those guys walked or ran away. The advance in safety now is a very good thing. Many more of these would have walked away. I've seen guys killed at the local drags. low ball circle track races, and in 2008 I saw a guy die at Bonneville. I have seen a lot more survive because new safety equipment and rules that actually prevented wrecks. View this as an add for safety and a lesson for why rules were made.

As brutal as these are not all were fatal...but yes some unquestionably were...and the safety barricading of the Racers evolved on that carnage...it was a long haul for sure...

Again reading the stories on these early racers they were very vulnerable to the lack of safety...it's usually the less glamorous lesser reported side of things...

I know I'd love to hop in a Roaring Roadster and blast around a track without the true competition as it is dangerous as hell...it was damn near a blood sport...I'm sure there were a few California Kid Sheriffs racing in the pack and putting one over the wall was just collateral damage...

That photo Stogy, was when I was redoing my Ford "Y" block, added a 3/4 cam{ 3/4=street n strip type not full race, remember that as about 1963 or 64. The very last photo for sure with rollbar,I removed an the bike fenders that were temp anyway.
I had first got this rod running in 1959. I still have it !
