We hit a bad traffic jam in New Mexico and pulled off to let it cool down a while. Gave the people in traffic something to look at. It never overheated just wanted to make sure it didnt get there.
Thanks for sharing the trip with us. I think I still have one of the magazines with that truck on the cover out in the shed.
In the morning at the destination. Truck is dirty as hell but other than the shock we had zero issues.
Took it to a cruise night in Peoria AZ last night. Met some cool people. Nice to see new people see the truck, especially the guys that recognize it. Even the people that have no clue of the history love it which proves how timeless the truck is.
View attachment 4856328
I talked to you a bit at the cruise night. It was nice hearing about your trip and so bithcin' to see Jake's truck there. The '59 Chevy wagon in your pictures is my heap.
You were lucky to have left when you did, here in western Iowa we got about and inch of snow over night. Hope the truck had a heater Your trip makes me want to do likewise

Love your wagon, they all ritted to nothing back home lol.
I'm assuming the truck will come back to Illinois with you, don't forget to let us know how that trip goes. I first saw the truck when Jake owned it and was really surprised when I saw it at Kens shop and and Ken owned it!!! Enjoy! Bill
Delightful, done a couple of long hauls in a hot rod, You are the star when it's just you on the road. I'm jealous
That truck has always...hopefully will continue to...sit PERFECT! Great rubber rake, great color, great wheels...the list goes on. Thanks for sharing.
Ken has sold the truck to a very good friend of his in Arizona. I am also very good friends with both men and they know how I feel about this truck so I was given the chance to deliver it. It was a chance of a lifetime trip and I had a blast.
We did the same thing when the traffic in Phoenix suddenly went to STOP. Just to keep everything honest, we went to the gravel center and waited for 12 minutes. I love these trip stories.
Wow man! I am blown away I just now seen this and had no idea that Ken sold the truck. I talked to him about 20 years ago and ask him about buying it as for me it is not just a Hot rod, It is the Hot rod! I would trade my 32's 34 or whatever for it any day! I own 3 28-29 trucks as well as 32 coupes, 34 3 window and several other model A's. But Jakes truck is it for me and has always been. I have a copy of every pic/mag printed on it. Ken told me back then that he may sell the truck someday to the right person, I am that person. Sounds like I just missed it. Ken told me that him and Jim had been friends for a long time and Jim made him a great deal on it when he bought it. Ken even said he named his son after him. Funny I did as well. I live 15 mins from Pete and Jakes where Jake's Coupe and Pete's Coupes are Garaged.
