Normally I don't care for a wheel opening flair on a C1, but I dig this one! Probably because it is so slight it looks factory.

Love the polished Torque Thrusts on the front. Probably the rears too. But not a fan of the rear wheel openings.

I have seen the picture of the 62 with the 63 front clip with Zora off to the side before but am not familiar with the GM pic of the 61 fuelie with the fastback treatment. It appears it is a 1962 Michigan license plate and probably is a M plate (manufacturer). A few years ago a 62 Vette was found in metropolitan Detroit that had been road raced and then drag raced and was in so-so condition. A gentleman I know bought it and did his homework and showed me the paperwork from GM engineering with a bunch of Z06 parts on the car. Car has tons of documentation. There are a number of study cars that GM created and much we don't know although there are a bevy of experts who would argue to the contrary.

Really like the S&S 62 and of course the Dave McDonald 00 car. Would like to know the history of Little Caesar that Jason posted. He really wanted rear tire clearance. Cool stuff.

Mr. Moriarity posted this photo a few weeks back. I wanted to try and bring some color back to it.

Can we tolerate the Paris Fish car one more time. I've loved this car since the first time I saw it on the cover Hot Rod in days of yore.

Dan, I agree I still have pictures of Paris Fish' black 62 that I saved from the same old days of yore. I also saved pictures of a black 62 out of New Jersey from the 70s or 80s and of course Allan Patterson's black 62. Something about a black 62 really gets my attention. I ended up buying a couple more pics recently of Patterson's car that will end up in the book one of these days-I hope.

Somewhere I read that Fish probably still owns the car and it is put away.

Both Mazmanian and Skip Hess added about the same weight-probably right around 550lbs or thereabouts. Wonder where they put it. Deloy Naeb added it to the rear end housing (or at least a good portion of it) with his 58 called "the Pooch". The only weight I ever added was a briefcase full of steel in the back of my 73 Vette in the 70s so I could drive it in the winter. Prior to that I swapped ends on occasion in the snow and ice.

Speaking of adding weight. Couple of times I have been asked why and seen cars that had concrete poured in the C1 spare tire well. Have you ever seen or heard of that Jim?

Dan I have heard of it but I am not sure it is folklore or fact. I think I would come up with other means. I know some guys added weight in a push bar. Here is a picture of the rear end housing in Deloy Naeb's 58. The enclosed area had lead in it which you could melt and have it run out if necessary. A bit smarter than concrete. Some of the rulebooks discouraged adding weight (and looked the other way on occasion) so it you had it hidden it made more sense. The tire well was not all that strong for extreme weight like concrete IMO.

I'm sure I likely posted this here somewhere years ago. September 16th 2011 Good Guys at the Indy Speedway. The owner has since finished a killer '57 Corvette gasser I think it did race in days gone by.

I remember reading about this car in Hotrod in the 90’s as an iconic car and instantly wanted a car just like it. I remember the guys at hotrod then not speaking favorably about the car due to the rear wheels sticking out pass the wheel well. I was young but this is when I came to the conclusion that me and hotrod magazine had very different views about what looks good! Lol

By the 90's Paris's '62 was old hat. Technology and tastes had changed. It was a period car with a smaller circle of reconition. There may be more appreciation and recognition now of the various periods than there was then. We're far enough out now so that greater numbers of people have a different retrospect.

That is so true. In the 90's I too would have poo pooed the 70's style of tires sticking out as old. But now, having lived thru both decades and their fads, I dislike the 90's billet and dig the 70's again.

I’m thankful I had grumpy “old” 30/40 yr old Vietnam veterans jr stock/ circle track/gasser mentors who would have made fun and or hazed me if I swayed towards billet pro street anything.
The H.A.M.B. is definitely a kinder gentler place then what I grew up with.
