These appear to be old builds that have survived

The home built woody pictured here got me started in hot rodding when I would see it go past my house when I was about 14 years old . It was on the way to Convair field in Allentown Pa to run at the drag strip .

This truck has been through needed maintenance and a few repairs and mods over the years - lots of minor work done but never really "restored".

I've had it about two years. During that time I replaced the rotten and hacked original wiring harness with a stock type, made a new blinker harness (the old one was made of electrical cords taped together) and I refinished the bed wood. The bed wood is an overlay that is on top of the original steel that was made to look like a wooden bed. The side wood pieces are panels that were made to match the floor. It's not something that I would do myself, but I refinished the wood as a nod to the truck's history (plus I didn't want to paint the dinged up original bed). I also switched out the stock headlight buckets with some '39 deluxe. The '40 lights always looked like an afterthought and the '39's just flow great with the fenders.

The truck is getting a major upgrade with a Rex-Rod's hopped up flathead - and I am going to replace the brake lines, etc for safer driving. I don’t plan on restoring or selling - or doing anything further cosmetically. It has just the right character for me, and I use it around my property as a light hauler.

My survivor. Was stored in a garage for 50 years.

  8. After bringing this one home, I consider it a survivor. Even though the interior has been redone and its been repainted, its otherwise stock and judging from the paperwork I found in it, I think its been off the road since the mid 90s.

Mine can't be counted as a survivor because there wasn't enough left of it when I got it, but I saved as much as I could and have enough of the details left to show it's the same car. Body, frame, all the suspension, grill shell, dash, even some of the gauges.

I picked up this 1947 a while back, it was customized in 1968 by a guy with a paint shop in Beloit Kansas, it was in a garage under a tarp for years then sold four years ago, where it sat in an old warehouse.
The interior trim and dash were painted candy apple red then striped with a torch and clear coated, he did the same to the hubcaps, when I went to look at the car it didn't have the hubcaps on, after the deal was made as an after thought I asked if he had hubcaps for the car, he said yeah, they're ugly as hell and in the trunk, lol.

The interior is an eye opener, to say the least., all the trim including the rear view are painted, the seats are a fake leather with silver walking liberty fifty cent pieces as seat back buttons, two across the front and three across the back, the interior is pretty spotless other than the drivers side carpet which is worn out, like new every where else, 1968 new.
The dash ash tray handles are small pistons.
And another one on the hood pull.
The linkage is flipped too left hand shift, the story on that was the guy liked to put his arm around his girl and he could hit second faster, with it flipped first is straight up second down and away, and just to really be different he installed a amber shift knob with a Toad imbedded in the center, I call the car the Toad.
My wife thinks the toad is gross, the knob not the car. lol

The car seems pretty unmolested, other than the paint, lol, it had a Columbia two speed at one time, had.
The old car is just funky enough that I love it, other than going through the mechanicals I'm not going to change a thing.

All original except the wheels. Sat in my buddy's garage for 18 years before I got it.

Very nice. I just pulled this 57 Pontiac Star Chief out of a barn after it slumbered for a few decades. The sheetmetal is insanely clean and almost ready for paint.

Pulled this ‘55 Chevy 210 home from the Arizona Sonora desert. Yes, I’ve done a “bit” of work on it but the body is 100% original. IMG_2882.JPG

I consider this a survivor -bought in Sacramento ,chromed dash ,juice brakes and a heated and bent rear spring to lower the rear end hopefully someone may recognise it and give me some history -it now resides in Scotland patiently awaiting a few "upgrades" 20191016_112725.jpg
