Features 1940 Chevy car photo thread...

My Dad turned 18 in 1940 and since he had worked every kind of job he could find from about 13 years old on he had saved enough for a down payment on a new Chevy dump truck that he hauled coal and any thing else he could to make his payments. Within a few months he was making enough to keep up and he then bought a new 40 Chevy convertible. I don't have any pictures of the dump truck as he had to sell it when he went in the Army Air Force in early 1942 but I did find a picture of him in uniform with the convertible while home on leave. It was put up on blocks until he got out of the service and later traded in on a slightly used 46 Buick Roadmaster.

 

I posted previously that the car my Pawpaw gave me about 3 weeks before I turned 13 was a 1940 Chevy Special Deluxe 4-door. That was in October 1967. (53 years ago!) Man I wish I still had it. But Dad made me get rid of it a couple of years later. I have been fond of 40 Chevys ever since, and want to get another one someday, maybe. I know I have some pictures of it somewhere but can’t find them.
