image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg So, I needed a banger to race in a field with my club. With a budget of around 2 grand I turned junk into junk to race with. Probably the most fun I have ever had putting a car together... Well, kind of a car.
I found a running and driving doodlebug not far from my house and took my roadster pieces down from my barn loft. Basically some parts I had tie wired together on saw horses made to look like a complete roadster in my barn for decoration. Please don't judge me... I am completely aware of the fact that this is a big pile of crap. But I like it and at the end of the day, I kind of put another Model A back on the road. Minus the road.

Since it’s such crap. Sell it to me for the 1500 you have into it :). It’s cool in My book :)

Oh, "I'm going to judge you alright., and find you guilty...of being awesome! I hereby sentence you to having fun with your field racing friends until such time you sell it or it falls apart.

Before you make an offer, you should see the custom interior. Left the doodle bug Heritage intact. Haha

When I was younger, there was a guy who scrapped down the street. He always had a bunch of rusted up Doodlebugs that he would cut up. It was before I was into this stuff and didn't really know what they were. It kills me now... I would have saved each one of them. :(

I'm glad you have all those louvers punched in that deck lid. It will relieve the air pressure that will surely build up and THAT will give you the winning advantage in the race! ;)

Yes, the louvers and no floor from the seat back will definitely help with airflow. Because... Race Car! Hahaha

Build more.. I bought my favorite one of an elderly friend this summer, a 31? Whippet, 2 speed International Speed six rear end, and he just gave me hood sides from a Federal with those vent doors for it.

Then I built a complete Star this summer in 3 weeks on FaceBook,(catdad49 on this thread saw it going together there) a Moon front axle and disc wheels, BIG Packard rear with discs, 2nd trans stays in second giving a .75 ratio of the main trans going into the rear if that makes sense.. geared MINT. IK just went out through the boonies on last big wind blown storm a few days ago....I decided to go pay my Oil bill, so I blazed a trail on foot to go ask the desk cutie if I can pay in cash? She says sure, so I walk home to get the Star..holy crap I finally get the tarp off it, blow up one tire add gas in the one gallon thinner can on the firewall, Man the snow is getting deeper fast.. I had a riot! ...the walk was like 80% of the fun, wondering which path to take!
So deep as I got there I had to run it home on my main state road! One guy in an early 90s chevy 4x4 passes by coming the other way...gets his fist raised way up as a salute...or wants to punch me if I hit his truck??

A quick update on this pile... ended up getting back on it a few weeks ago. Picked up the correct radiator and hood... along with an old circle track seat and roll bar. The old pieced together girl doesn’t look half bad. ‍ 7F39DAC1-4D5B-4754-ADD5-D4F2BDE213D9.jpeg 138846B2-FD66-4283-AE0F-55B97A0D0C66.jpeg 6CC84BFD-41E8-4E68-B975-5734EB5EA4CB.jpeg

OMG that's cool. And 10 degrees wouldn't have stopped me! Some of my favorite drives in my t-bucket were in the cold and snow!

Love this, me and a friend are hoping to put something similar together, we have a cowl, chassis, running gear and some rough quarters, yours is a great inspiration, especially seeing the subframe you built.
    Thanks for posting.

I ended up taking it to an 8th mile track along with some friends this past Sunday but unfortunately it was rained out. But hopefully next time. 2E87BFAA-FBE8-4059-A40E-3AF54B45595D.jpeg 5C7C24A6-0B5A-4F3F-A63E-0FAB38459A79.jpeg 2A2C3502-8EE2-437B-BFC1-DB3660008BE9.jpeg 5A6A98F9-D401-42FF-8608-BDEA14077C1F.jpeg 2F36A45C-AE27-4DC7-BC75-434F1AA85022.jpeg

That’s basically all I had too. That’s the hard parts. Everything else can be made easily out of sheet metal. My doors are spot welded shut so the body is pretty sturdy. It’s actually a lot of fun building a turd. Lol

Last step to this build was to get my buddy Jerry to make me a custom tonneau cover. As usual his work was spot on. Just need Covid to go away so we can get back to racing!!!
