My father played with/built cars his whole life and from the age of 14 I was in the garage learning all I could. Now 45 years later, dad passed and I’m building cars at a rapid pace but while sorting all of his tools with my tools I keep coming across home made tools that were made to solve a problem but I have no idea what it was. Here’s the first one .

About 2" of thread used in two places, and a tapered castle nut. I think there are missing pieces. I win?

I have a box full of tools and fixtures I built over the years but I've forgotten what most of them were for. Still, they often get recycled for another use.
