Are you saying it is for sale? What kind of shape is it in and how much do you want? That would at least give me a matching spare.

You are right about the failures of this type construction,, I had a few sets back when and had problems with both sets,,, I see a pair now and then at swap meets for 25-35 a pair, most people don"t want them.

If the casting you're talking about is a rectangle with a few numbers its probably the date code. They are American Racing

32owner: Those are genuine American Racing ( like 1933willys said) magnesium second generation wheels. First style rounded spoke (as opposed to newer pointy spoke) , with tubeless style air fill on the flat part of the wheel , (as opposed to on the face). Very desirable wheels.

  9. I had a set of aluminum face with steel rim (15 by 5 1/2) 4 3/4 B C on my 57 Corvette. I
bought them in mid 60's at Barker's speed shop in Kannapolis N.C. I believe they were called Keystone Hollywoods & were not that pricey . Jerry from N.C.

Aluminum, not mag. Many manufacturers made these with the steel rims, some even private-labeled them for other sellers.

I believe Magfiend is referring to the cheapy two piece ones, that the OP of this thread was asking about; not your magnesium pair.

Not magnesium center. Mag and steel would corrode and the steel inserts would fall out of the center casting . This is without mentioning the EXTREME fire probability when the welding was done IF it was magnesium. M/T, Rocket , Fenton, Cragar as mentioned sold wheels like this in the 20-30 dollar range in the mid '60s.

  19. I have heard that some of the wheel companys made these and we're sold at a lower price for people who couldn't afford the more expensive wheels. I have two sets 6x14s and 7x15s, they are good wheels but you have to be careful you can break the polished face when you mount them on a tire machine, be sure you set the machine on the steel part of the wheel. I have seen some that were broken by the little jaws on the tire machine.
