    Sad news. I talked to him years ago at the CHRR, told him that he was one of my heroes from my youth. He was truly surprised that a kid in SoCal followed them back then and remembered him after all these years. He was happy about all the interest in nostalgia drag racing and the saving of the race cars from the past. Nice talking to him. R.I.P. Phil.

    Condolences to the Hobbs family and friends on the passing of Phil. No matter how fast we go we can't win the race against life :(. He did his best and was a fierce competitor by all accounts...may he Rest in Peace.

    The men... and women, for that matter... who drove Top Fuel slingshot dragsters lived their lives far beyond my level of existence.

    A nice guy. I enjoyed listening to his stories at my buddy's shop.I never realized when I saw him race at the U.S. nationals in the 1960s that I would one day get to meet him. R.I.P.
