Been working on this project for about three years now and hope to have it fired up and rolling this spring but just looking for some input about other than the stock tail lights for it. I know i should have thought of this before paint, but first build always has a few f ups. I have the stock tail lights but in kinda rough condition and not really crazy about them. Looking at 40 Chev tail lights and they actually look like they will fit real close with the curvature of the fenders. Just looking for some other ideas that might fit also.

Perhaps overdone, 1950 Pontiac. Clean and simple.
Ha, remember some '70s street rods with '66 Mustang tail lights...

    Don't do '59 Caddy.

  9. 39 Ford tear drop tail lights, they are elongated and would probably cover the screw holes. HRP

  10. '49-'50 Lincoln Cosmopolitan might fit that radius. The shallow ones.

  12. If the 39 Ford doesn't work the 38/39 Lincoln Zephyr tail lights are a bit larger. HRP

Adjustments.JPG I’ve always thought these would look good on round fenders. Harley tombstones.

I actually tried fitting one of these to my 47 Olds, but the contours are off. Not sure if the 40 Chevy has the same contour as the Olds, though.

So then ...you want some other taillight, different from what it came with originally , but you want them to fit into the same mounting holes as the original ones did.
    Hum...well.. ok ....aaahh...moving on.

Pretty sure he just wants whatever will cover the stock holes, not fit them. And pretty sure he doesn't want anything that requires damaging new paint either. Seems like a simple request he made.

I understood his request, I was more getting at that most of the other idea's would require some modifications of mounting and that would require some paint touching up.
Thats kind of a tricky mounting area due to the roundness multiple ways .
Another option would be leaving the original mounting assembly and come up with a custom lens, of course originals being made of glass, plastic lens can be altered from something else to fit the hole or fab ones from red plastic stock material.
Hope something works out for you..I wouldn't get to hung up on it ,you could always run the stockers till you run across something you like and that will fit..
