  6. I’m also in the Halibrand camp. The wires just seem very 70’s to me.

Halibrands fit the theme of the build.

  10. I like them both as well but I’d run the wires if it was my car. I just really like how the wheel color compliments the body.

Well, thought a surrender flag was headed up the pole. These new large 97's were whippin the rump. 80+ hours, some serious hand holding and direction an the ARDUN 32 is purring like a sewing machine....hallalujah! 14. I'd run steelies with caps and ring painted the color of the belt line, or the halibrand kidney beans. I don't care for the wires, they don't say HOTROD.

I have wires on my 32 & feel they look good on a resto full fender car such as mine happens to be, where as those 'beans' lend themselves well to most any build theme & particularly so on a high boy such as yours. "Go beans"

Late response on your wheels poll, but ‘dirt car’ hit the nail on the head.

Looks good, glad you got it sorted out.
Some information on the hand holding and changes and the tuning that led to your success would be nice.

I will. Had outlined, hit a wrong button and dumped. HAMB has so many quirks. For one when I tied to load some pics and it said I didn't have permission. Sucks.
    I'll be back to ya.

Well, the short form without reading between the lines. I did get several "emphatic opins" and they were on target. And do not take anything for granted. I had the Ardun built and dynoed. Was not tuned below 2500 rpm. My bad. (Ran dyno for 25+ years). Lots of black smoke and killed plugs instantly. So....
First..check float levels...1/2" down. Period. Mine were 1l4" at best. Simply sloshed fuel when coming to a stop or medium acceleration. Burbbled, snorted, farted....no good.
Second...check jet size. New large 97's, 250 cfm, jets are 56. Mine had been opened to 62. Way to big. Pulled back to 58. Not perfect but 100% better.
Third... eliminated the second carb accelerator pump. Too rich at easy pull off idle. Lots of blackum smoakum...
Third...yes I tried my darndest against all opins to do progressive linkage. No workie. Damned if I know why. Was told they wouldn't work. And "they" were right. So they open at same time.
Fourth...now work on synchronizing the throttle plates. I used UniSyn and air meter. See pics. Ok, not perfect. Need some fiddlin yet.
Fifth...idle mixture screws, touchy....mine are at 3/4 turn out. +/-
Sixth....oh, them little air cleaners. Junk. Carbs want air. Did them things for ease of tunning. They choked the motor bad. Tuned without then back to my "pretty" air cleaner.
Seventh...keep eye on timing just be sure it didn't wander.
Eighth...oh...carb mixture screw turning tool...blue handle.. internet item, very helpful.
It's a tad of a vicious circle. But like one of my "opins" said the feeling is really good when it purrs. Instead of stuttering, pop, kapluie, fart, smoke and not want to restart.....and calling it a mf doesn't work either....

  23. The wire wheels need fenders.

Grille bars the same color as the beltline would complete the look.

Just a few photos from a generally different perspective....the bottom side...front to rear.
Getting closer....gots 400 miles and she's tuning up and taming down.
    Weather has been great.....

Are the paint colors stock 32? Looks lighter than Tunis Grey.

    Hey Koolbeans,
i like both options of your wheels, the whires look real traditional cool and fit well to the E&J's and paintjob. Here's one of my Halibrands, with my own centralscrew-adapter's for the original Halibrand-spinners to mount and homemade hubcap/lugnutcovers.
Rims are painted with 4 different layers of semitransparent metalized paints and two semimatt clearcoats. balacing the rims was a bit of a challange only on the inside... 7D3DC85F-762C-4707-B2E3-9A974EFEA610_1_105_c.jpeg
