Hot Rods Show Me Flame Arresters

I've always liked the looks of the flame arresters on Andy Shouthard's '29 Model A. Who made these and how many of you have them on your Hot Rod?

 

Nicson Engineering did some..., I think Moriarty's are as well ? ( Internet photos )

 

Always loved Southard's roadster!

 

They look nice, but are not air cleaners. They stop sparks from exiting, but don't stop dust and dirt from entering. Not much dust and dirt on a boat...

I found out something interesting with my latest purchase, I have 3 that are the same and when I bought another to match my odd ball it (unpolished) was about a 1/4 inch bigger all around, shaped different and fits looser on the carb too.
