  10. Hardly Fat Jack style, but I drew this out of Wayne's stock bodied coupe this Sunday last. Kinda fitting. 201018SSGT47KStmBusCpe.jpg

    Hello,

I have always liked the 33-34 Ford coupes, the 3 window and what I was used to seeing almost every day, the 5 window coupe of my brother’s good friend. The body style just has the swept back look of a hot rod that was going places and needed the streamlining to make it go faster. The new design was not the stogy, oversized, upright grille of the 32 models, but a clean sweptback look that just fit the new body style.

We have seen all sorts of builds with and without fenders. For daily street work and drives to high school, the full fender model fit right in during our time period. Then the racers took over and took off the fenders for a body only look. Early drag strip models that drove to the dragstrip, led to fender less models for racing only, leading to Bonneville/dry lakes models and finally, different looks for different people, anywhere.

This Halloween inspired 5 window Ford Coupe is a version of the early full fender model that had gone through several build changes and led to the drag strip/street stomping Orange Coupe. Gas mileage? For a daily driver? Back then it was pocket change that led to a zillion miles of pure teenage hot rod road trips and cruises. Today, with the gas prices a little higher, constant throttle stomping might have to ease back a little.

What about the poor surfer teens? Grab an old sedan delivery and make it into an acceptable version of how to get to the beach and waves in record time. Halloween after party clean ups bring in plenty of dollars for the future… Just wear a mask.

  20. Ok folks, the cat's out of the bag somewhat. I posted a teaser here a few months ago and here are a few more illustrations I did for the book I just released.

Had some fun writing and illustrating this, waaay outside my comfort zone...

At the back of the book there are a few guest appearances by some artists whose names you might recognize, and I even convinced @Ryan to show off his drawing talents. I'll save that for another post :D
