Technical Engine Turning and Bead Rolling a Hawk Dash Insert

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Irishjr, Mar 22, 2020.

  1. Nice work. We had a great thread on this a few years back as well. Looking forward to watching the progress of the whole car.

  2. I think this thread is about done. SUCCESS! I rolled and polished the edge and installed it in the dash with the gauges. I still have to do the glove box lid, but that can be down the road.

I hope this has been informative. I learned a lot as I went along and am very happy with how it turned out. Now back to 53 COOP:

Feel free to message me with questions or assistance. If you are close to me and want to use my setup, this can be done.....

    Later.....

  5. I love Stude dashes. I have a couple, unsure of the years though. One looks sorta like yours, and the other has wood grain. I just bought them because I thought they looked cool =)

You do amazing work. Much better than factory.

Outstanding ! I turned the dash on my 32 , I used the very same system as you do , only I did not have the ability roll the edges . You have something to really be proud of doing yourself . Stand tall and proud , Brother , you deserve it .

Thank you very much for this thread.
I have planned a engine turned dash on my T so this thread will be handy to have.

Be careful, it’s addictive. I turned my dash insert, now I’m looking at other surfaces and thinking “that’d look cool if it was turned too”.

  14. I have no idea what you are talking about.....but I gotta say, my wife has been hiding all kinds of stuff. Stuff I just happen to mention that "boy, that would look neat with engine turning!!!"

  15. I just thought I could add to this thread by showing where I am on the Hawk dash. I've been relegated to light duty since having a left shoulder replacement in October, so I concentrated on the dash before I get strong enough to start chopping the top!

I got all adventuresome and fooled around with some turning on my overflow tank. Took a little while but came out ok I think.
