    Liking the old truck!!!
That too narrow rear end should be just right for some "man-sized" rear wheels and tarz. Gonna need them for that Hemi ('specially if you go to the dual quads!);)

  2. Thanks!
Looking for something in 15", 5x5 1/2 bc, with 3" back space. 4" on there now.
Don't particularly want to run spacers.

  3. Update from BSE.
Jim got the steering box mount finished and welded in for good, and while the engine was out, switched out the trans adapter for RH starter.
    Another good day!

  5. Here's an update. That Jim is a working mosheen, I tell you.
Got the brake pedal, booster and m/cyl mounted.
    IMG_3184.jpg
Fabbed up the trans linkage and hooked up the 40 column shift.
    IMG_3186.jpg

    IMG_3187.jpg

Fabbed up the top and bottom column mounts, and sectioned the shift tube.

Next: radiator brackets and driveshaft. Stay tooned!

It looks like you're going to have a very nice pickup. I think your truck was originally a 6 cyl. What happened to the "POS" frame?

  7. Thanks!
Yes, it was a 6 cyl. Has a 1GC prefix serial number.
A guy in Dandridge is buying it, hopefully. I will see him Friday in Knoxville. Interested in it if something falls through?

  9. Not too much going on this week at BSE. They got the cab, doors and fenders to the media blaster they use and the pieces came back in PPG epoxy prime. Ready for the floor and cab corner repair. Doors were near perfect, must be from another truck.

    nice,
begs the question.… why no-one repops a 35-40 front crossmember and
sells a perimeter frame with one fitted
in as much as fitting the rear leaf spring mounts - so the rear shackle goes through the rail at the back...
supplies them with the springs - u-bolts and saddles, shock mounts and shocks
mounts for f1 style shock mounts at the front
the wish bone mount area has both a socket for a unsplit bone and also has provisions fitted for a split wishbone. - cut off whichever you don't need
has mounts for a saginaw 525 or a 800 power box
    universal small block motor mounts
    supplied with all the fastners
drilled and tapped for brake and fuel lines
    mount for brake switch
    mounbt for combination valve
    mounts for 2 and 10

    -get it , paint it
    fling the rear in
    fling the front axle in
    instant roller

they could sell at least 1

What is a perimeter frame and how is it different from the original frame?

    It's all the Barillaro brothers!
What they have accomplished in two months would have taken me two years. The sale of my 33 coupe made it happen.
It will slow down once I get it home for plumbing, brakes and wiring.
Then to find a body man/painter with the same work ethic and skill as Jim and Mike.

  24. Sone more sheet metal work done by the dynamic duo, Jim and Mike.

Vband clamps, I love Vband clamps. I pulled my exhaust off the truck the other day to sand and polish the pipes and those things make it sooo easy to remove and install without leaks. Looking great!

Great fitment of DeSoto, 350 TH; especially liked the word on availability of right hand starter adapter!
Also like the Saginaw steering choice and placement, and the use of the '41 mast jacket/'41 shifter.
Lowness of front and 1" forward front axle was the icing. Hope you locate the right offset on rear wheels.
    I also hate spacers...
