I'll be looking for door hinges, inner and outer door handles and latch mechanisms soon. Are all those parts specific to a roadster ? Want originals Thanks
Paul, I know you are trying to stay with original parts, but finding good original hinges and unworn latches is hard to do. Did you check with Eric from A's & more to see if he has anything, or knows who might have what you need. As far as inner and outer door handles, originals that are not split or cracked are very tough to come by. I will contact some model A vendors down here to see what they may have. Otherwise, just go with the reproduction stuff for now. I have reproduction inner handles on my roadster, but if I find some good originals, I would get them to replace what I have. I have a worn original door latch on my roadster, but I have a reproduction latch to replace it for now.
Be careful when you purchase used hinges. People often get them mixed up or will tell you what you want to hear with bad information and then you'll have hingeas for the wrong class. Sent from my SM-G973U using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Which years 1928-29 or 30-31 ??? hinges are different , early 28 had no outside door handles and different door latches later kb
I probably end up with repops But thought I'd get knowledge in case I stumble on some . Really appreciate all your advise and the advise of the other members. You've all guide me through a few builds
What year are you looking for ? Outside door handles are also different as the 30-31 are stainless and 28-29 are nickel plated if I remember correctly.
I used to make the door latch that wore out but prices of tool steel made it impossible to make them reasonably...
The repop hinges are made well. . . . The holes don't line up though! I had to re-drill. After a few weeks in the elements they look original
