Hahahahahahahahahahaha...you can't be serious uncleandy65...??? Mick, "running out of customs"...??? Prolly knows more about customs (mild, full, radical) than you ever will...FWIW, I had a '57 Chevy "kustom" in high school in 1960/1961...could I afford to lead the emblems in, .no, but I did my best to use tape the color of the car and from 20 feet away it looked good. My '57 also had a tube grille, Lakes Caps, wide whites, Candy Green rims and baby moons and its name painted on the rear quarter...that was the extent of what I could afford while I was making payments on the car...That '59 Elco and '60 Chevy ARE perfect examples of "kustoms." Not everyone had a huge bank account to modify a car back then...

  13. I guess I'm a little late to the party demmel, but this Olds you're talking about was a W.E.H.T. car, #202 to be exact. We never came up with any current whereabouts information on the car, but me and the rest of the custom faithful always have our eyes open.
On the write up, the owner's name I came up with on the car was Larry Rosalie that was from a KOA Styleline snippet from car show coverage. After reading your post I think the KOA newsletter had a typo on the name. I see in your Facebook link that the name Rosalie Friedman is associated with this car. Could it have been the car was owned by Larry and Rosalie Friedman? Also, it looks like the town in New York Rosalie called home was Ronkonkoma. Is any of this correct? I always like to update the story headers of mystery W.E.H.T. customs as unknown information comes to light. I always like to keep the facts as straight as I can and give credit where credit is due.
If you like, you can share the story with Rosalie as I'll include a link to the write up. I'm not on Facebook, so my access there is very limited. Also, any history that Rosalie wants to share would be welcome over on the W.E.H.T. page or even on this thread, as long as we can all get some custom history or good custom stories! E

I found this sectioned 40 sedan for sale. Long-term, I could see it with a chopped Carson style top. Does anyone see potential on this one as is?[IMG]

Yeah, definitely some possibilities as it sits. I'd change the wheels to some chrome reverse and ditch the caps, different tires - piecrust rears maybe. Nerf bars front and rear, lose or change the color of the running boards and repaint the whole car with a new color and some scallops or a Watson-esque panel job.
