Detroit builds what they want to build and convinces us that it is what we want. How is that for being cynical?

Not cynical, just how it is. That's why Hot Rods exist.

I'll add to the cynicism the "go big" mindset we have here in the US . Our wide open space land mass allows this. And yes, the auto industry learned some time ago that bigger and fancier means bigger profit margins, fueled by status culture. Look how enormous the current half ton pickup has become. My 63 Chevy is the eqivalent of an S10.

Hello all,an old member that been away for a bit was building a Buick Cranbrook with my students. Sold the car and onto new projects with my students.

A few post ago, there was a photo of a kid on a go-kart/cyclekart. A few remarked that kids dont do it any more.

Here is a photo of my son winning the AZ 200 race and came in 3rd place in the 24hr race in Willcox AZ. Got to love father-Son projects.

Love reading so many post. Thank you. It nice to stumble upon new reading and other people that enjoy cyclekarts.

I am working on rebuilding my 1st cyclekart, a 1910 Buick Bug.

It a Harbor Freight 212cc with Stage 1 so about 8hp, he got it up to 36mph. The brakes are off of an old motorcycle. It is built after a 1930 MG Midget Type M 20200913_135522.jpg 20200808_202355.jpg 20201022_162448.jpg 20201022_162620.jpg

That's a fascinating souvenir card. It raises a number of questions. Is that Janine Jennky, who raced a Bugatti in the late 20s? If so, how is she associated with this car? Who is Emilio? I couldn't find anyone by that name racing an Amilcar. Is Marcel, Marcel Contet? He raced an Amilcar Pégase in 1936.
