Howdy! I just painted my '64 C10 with a color that I mixed myself using Rustoleum, but I am looking for ideas on what to do with the upper cab and bumpers color. Interior is all black and wheels will be aluminum/silver (I will be using classic turbine wheels). I was thinking of using gloss black, white, or an off white. Thoughts? Thanks! Jeff Useless extra info: Power train consists of an Olds 468 with a th400.
From here it looks to be a satin finish, if so in my opinion a glossy secondary color would look "off" to me. At one time I had contemplated doing my 66 Suburban in two tone, had not settled on the main lower color but was set on painting the top in PPG's "Vanilla Shake". I think it would look good in satin. Here is an example.
Like @DDDenny said stick with satin if that’s what you painted it White Off white Cream Ivory Etc Neat truck and cool drive train !
You spelled BADASS wrong! I understand the sentiment, but I have always loved them. Not sure why, but just have. If I don't like them I can swap'em easily.
Must be a Dukes of Hazzard fan! Your truck, build it your way. Just expect photos of it to get deleted on here. Those 70's wheels don't fit the traditional forum.
Judging from your pic, it's a long wheelbase truck. As a rule of thumb: a darker color will make it look shorter/smaller...whereas a light color will tend to make it look longer and bigger.
I left mine in gray primer. I like gray primer as much as you like turbine wheels. Speaking of which, I once bought a 70 Bonneville 4 door just to take the wheels off it to use on my 57 Pontiac. I'm the only guy in the world who likes Western Bullets.
Not sure if youre running side trim, following a factory 2 tone layout is a good plan. Look at later C10's there were different layouts. Black and green would look good if it was 2 toned with more than the roof. If you choose white - Off white, not bright white. Heres a thought. Powder coat all the trim the same color silver/nickel. Bumpers, handles, mirrors, sidetrim etc. I had considered it for worn parts. If its all the same it will look good.
Rocky, check this out. I shot some recently in a trunk and it looks exactly like gray primer, but shiny. https://tcpglobal.com/collections/acrylic-enamel-paint-Mesa-Gray
I like Bullets too...actually, one of the first cool pickups I saw as a teen was a nicely lowered early/mid 60's Chevy fitted with Western Bullets...
Had a Great Uncle that had a blue and white 65 like the one elco posted. He bought it new, still had it when he passed away a few years ago. 283 with a 3 speed, one repaint in the 90’s. Don’t know what happened to it when he passed, guess his son got it.
