That one was also the subject of a HAMB thread, I remember a bunch of guys saying it needed a different stance but I loved it 100%, not everything needs to be lowrider low, jacked up like a 4x4 or at a 45 degree angle from the ground. Can't find the thread but maybe someone here will remember it, there were more pics and details. Really nice car.

  3. I agree on the stance, it’s great the way it is.
My suspension is pretty much stock with 2” lowering springs in the front. Stock 55s ride a little high in the front and I do like a slight rake. I like the offset tire and wheels sizes front to back on that 57, nice.

    You weren't after tri-five sedan delivery pictures, but this one I sold last year had a nice 60's vibe. 57 with New Americans 8-30-18 015 - Copy.JPG 57 with New Americans 8-30-18 020.JPG Marcus' Model A 8-4-19 018.JPG Lunch at Fred's 8-7-19 013.JPG 57 Sedan Delivery detailed 7-11-19 018.JPG

  11. That’s a great looking car. The middle pic hits the mark, but both versions look really good.
I’ve noticed that some cars like this one in the middle look like they have a basically what looks like a stock rear tire/wheel size and a wider shorter tire/wheel in the front. The STCB black 55 pic I posted a the beginning of the thread looks like it has a similar setup. It’s kind of a cool look.

I'm shooting for a 60's style with my '56 Chevy

Stance is just as important as wheels/tires, I don't remember any trifives, in the '60s, in my area anyway, being lowered in front or all the way around.......................................

  14. Interesting, so that came about later.
Kinda makes sense with the gasser styles of the mid-late 60’s and their trend to go higher and not lower.
I will have to see how mine looks with the lowering springs up front. I would be fine with a level stance, but I really don’t like the nose up in the air stance 55s seem to have with stock suspension.

I think these cars look best with chrome reverse wheels. Mine has 15x7 and 14x5s. I tried to make it look like an early 60s build

I honestly can't remember if it had air shocks on it when I bought it, but I don't think it did. It had air shocks on it at one time and the trunk floor where the shocks mount was cracked badly. The trunk floor had been welded up to repair it and then had cracked again. A former owner's fix then was to weld a piece of 2" diam water pipe between the frame rails as a new shock mount, but in crude style, the water pipe was bent a bit and not intentionally. The car had Moog big block 60's full-size Chevrolet front coil springs in front and extra leaves in the rear springs to get the stance it had. I did a lot of suspension work to the car in 1989 including cutting the frame in half just ahead of the front leaf spring hangers and narrowing the back half of the frame a total of 14". The pro street look was all the rage then so that's what I did, including installing rear wheel tubs, losing the back seat, and installing a 8 point roll bar. When I rebuilt the front suspension I reused the same front springs that were in the car when I bought it, but I cut 2 coils off them. Those front springs are still on the car. /With the pro street look, I lowered the car and it now has a pair of Posie's reversed-eye 5 leaf springs in the rear. All that seemed like a good idea 30 years ago, but I probably wouldn't do it today. It's held up very well though, no problems in that whole 30 years except it's a bitch to get rear wheels and tires off the car, and in a sick sort of way, I still like the look.

Don't remember where I saw this pic but kept it because I like everything about the '57.
Now that I have a '55, this is the direction I'm going as far as stance, wheels and tires. Pretty much like my old '30 tudor I built 15 years or so ago.
