That looks like a money pit, by the time you buy all the missing parts it would be cheaper to buy a finished car.

    I have 2 good reasons to pass on it;
    1. It wont fit in my garage at the moment
    2. I don't fit in the car at the moment either!

Looks like somebody had fun, fun, fun.

There are 103 '57 T-birds for sale right now on Hemming's. Several interesting ones <$30k. I doubt even with vast skills you could get this back on the road for less. The red top looks okay though.

    Make a great mild custom...

  12. Yep. Nobody is scared of cutting this one.
I vote full Kustom with a bubble top
But a glass nose, straight axle and cage sure would be easy on this one.

There’s a SEGA legal Bird being built right now, but there can never be too many! Sell off the unnecessary parts to the restorers to pay for the go fast goodies and build away.

This covid 19 bug prevents me from crossing the border. Thank God for small mercies.

  16. I once bought a 57 'Bird basket case. I learned a valuable lesson...buy the very best car you can when it comes to Little Birds because they cost a fortune to build. That one looks in better shape than the one I had...and sold after wasting money on it.. Money pit is right.

  17. If most parts are there - not a bad price.....we ain't building a trailer queen !

I got lucky on my 56, my old Cobra buddies from the 70's had bought it because it had a totally stock 427-8V that was correct for a 65 Cobra in it, puled the engine and trans and had no interest in the rest. Drop axle, front discs, Mustang 9", fenderwell headers, Dixco tach etc., and zero rust, for a little more than that one. Getting another 427, got some Americans and Firestones on it

Yes, it would. But, by the time you put in the effort and money to get it even operating, you'd have too much money in it to play the "beater" game. But, you should buy it and post a build thread!

  23. I’m building a couple beaters now.
Posted if anyone wanted a t-bird beater.
And I could have that thing running and driving for under 2k
    Done it a few times.
It’s not hard for a scrounger.

I've been thinking some more on this one. It is a very desireable body style. Look at some of the really beat up '34 Fordor to coupe threads that have showed up here. Maybe this would be worth saving.

Must be different state by state. If you functionally altered this up here in PA you couldn't run it under antique plates, you'd have to make it inspectionably worthy under streetrod plates and it wouldn't pass inspection under regular plates. I guess, too, that at this point in my life I am more into good cars than beaters, but, good for you. I hope it goes to the right person.

  26. in Bama the inspection is for numbers.
A drag or track car doesn’t need a tag

Are the 55-56's quarter panels slightly shorter? Seems the the 57's grew a few inches in the rear.

They sure look it to me, but I’m not a T Bird aficionado.
