Tim Liraud had built a custom 55 2dr Ford ,tube grill an wiped clean, very pail blue/near gray,,plus added in 1963 a FE 390,called "The Ghost",,Tim passed in 1965 RIP
I painted the name on fender.
After Tim passed away,Steve Reep got the 55,but not long after that the 55 front cross member rusted out so bad,the lower "A" arms went crazy/Steve junked it. THis may be what happened to many 55. Thing was super fast with the FE 390.

I like all models fifties Fords, except 51 & 58, but that 59 looks like a retractable. If I had the extra cash, I'd be looking into buying it.

I'll be going by there next month on my way to Goodguys in DFW. I'll take a second look to see if it's a retrac, but I think your right....I don't see any boot........hadn't noticed.......good eye! I'll see if there is a price on that for sale sign.

  6. Bringing this thread back up just so I can show off the pic that Travis "Royboy" Scanlan got of my car leading the pack at the Oklahoma Hot Rod Hundred a couple weeks ago. :D

It's been gone for a few years now, but I am still immensely proud of how my '56 turned out: GGOC10-0800LoC.JPG !!1000lite.jpg

I had forgotten about this thread. I don't think I ever posted my Sunliner now that it is finished. Well, for now. It will never approach Tony's 56 but I am proud of how it turned out. 55 March 2020 2.jpg

  11. I would say your car turned out pretty darn nice Joe. I am still hoping to check it out in person sometime since you aren’t that far away.

Thanks Jeff and Rich. I was in Crane MO for the Midwest 80th 40 Ford celebration the week before HRH and then Springfield today. So had to miss the HRH, I will make one eventually.

Thanks for the compliment Tony, I have admired every vehicle you have done that I have seen. You have the “eye”.

  15. Tony, I saw your car years ago at the GNRS and fell in love with it.

I especially liked your center console, so much so that I bought your spare lid from you and thought of making a console to go under it. That didn't work so I bought my own console.

Not near as nice as your car but I'm happy with it.

  18. I think you are right on Rocky! I had a 56 customline 30 years ago I bought for cheap because of the crossmember, it was on the way to the scrapper. No one was making new crossmembers at that time so I finally found a good frame and swapped out the crossmember, very big job at the time. Before I got it done I considered parting it out a couple times. I have a 55 Fairlane now..... but I like all 54 to 57's.

I would have loved to keep it, but I had too many cars and insufficient space and money to keep them all. The '40 in my avatar was under construction, and it needed all my resources. I don't regret the outcome!

How about a filp front end.. This was taken in Lawrenceville section of Pittsburgh. It was Sears parking lot. It stretched for a mile or so...
