I noticed that sale when I was looking at the results. If you read the listing for the car on the Mecum website it gives zero info on the car. I really do not have much faith in most of the stuff that passes over the block at Mecum. ( or BJ for that matter)
It may have been a good price for what it looked like, no doubt it is a Tupperware body. Hopefully it went across the stage under its own power.

    That's a 3/4 glass car with a v8-60

  4. Anyone have pictures of the car? I mean even a 'glass car, even a V-8 60 car, it must have been pretty nasty to only generate $13K!

  5. Yeah but, it's a 3/4 size car, not even real size. A toy.

Certainly did not notice the 3/4 size. I thought the flattie looked funny. It did arrive under its own power.

Yes! It only activated the first 6 cylinders.

My brother in law has bought several cars outta Auburn Indiana....now Auctions America. Some were sellers daily driver type cars(Caddy, a Hummer, even a Mercedes)some were hot rod type. ALL of them needed something.Moral of the story...don't believe everything you see on tv.

Just because you bought it at an auction doesn't mean you're buying a new car.

    I'm surprised somebody even makes/made a 3/4 scale 'glass '32 Roadster. Odd.
But I guess it'd be close to the size of a '26/'27 T Roadster?

  16. Looks to be the same one I saw at the Boise drags several years ago, nicely done, actually looked better than pictures show.

Thinking the same thing. I originally thought why? It's just as work as making a full sized car

The body and frame in the beginning, was set up with a motorcycle engine in the rear, not sure how many were built. Tom Black (Portland Or.) built the mold, and it lacked the rear tire openings. Years later another local guy, Arnie Chupp, re-worked the body and built the chassis, with a V-8 60 shown in the pics, and also a Quad 4, as I remember. Not sure how many cars Arnie built. There is one locally with a Blown BBC, and has the cartoon look.

The 3/4 size had me curious, so I had to look it up.

    @Malcolm you're right - it's 26/27 roadster tiny. Maybe smaller?

Here are screenshots from this YT Vid. Warning: ragtime music :confused::D

Internet says Chupp's Hot Rods 3/4-scale ’32 Ford roadster, complete front suspension,
bodies and chassis that fit on ’72–78 Datsun rear ends

That last pic looks like it has 3/4 oil rings as well.

Makes as much sense to me today as it did over 50 years ago.

3/4 Race – shut off at the 990-ft. mark?
    3/4 Race – .750 lift?

  24. Once again the power of the HAMB. I kind remember seeing these with the cycle engines in them.

I need to see that next to a full sized one.

  26. I remember seeing those bodies at the L.A.R.S. many years ago. I thought they would be nice with an aluminum Buick, or Oldsmobile 215" engine. The proportions would look pretty good.

One of the Mecum announcers said something like . . . "I hope we can get a close-up of the engine – I've not seen a head like that before."

Perhaps we should give him credit to at least know it was something different.

  28. I like it. I'd drive the shit out of it. I'd just make it center steer with a bench seat and maybe add some foot boxes. If it's titled and registered it blows the toy theory all to hell. Nothing at all wrong with thinking outside the box, especially when it comes to building a belly button 32.

I have one.. (bare body shell).. they were made about 20 years ago by Chupps Hot rods in Portland Or... I will be listing it for sale here in the parts section, if I can figure out how to take a picture of it..

  30. Be sure to post a 3/4 view shot of it.
    Good luck with your sale.
