The more 40s I see with Torque Thrust Ds, the more I like them. In my opinion that is THE wheel for these cars with the chrome reverse coming in a very close “second”.

  8. D's are cool, but the Torq Thrust Originals are where it's at! ;-)

true, I don't care for those modern torque thrust D's, they are not really a faithful reproduction of the ones originally made in the sixties to clear the corvette disk brakes. The originals with their straight spokes are wonderful...... just my humble opinion.....

To me, wheel choice is a very personal choice, and also depends on the car itself and it's finish and styling to some extent.
Both my '31 Hiboy (black) with Diamond Back WWs, and my '40 coupe (driftwood grey) with BWs are devoid of flames and other flash. In fact, the '40 looks almost totally original exterior wise.
And, by my choice, both have steel wheels, "baby moons", and beauty rings.

I got the hood and roof waxed so far. I remember when I could wash and wax a car in one day; now I have to work the job in shifts over a few days. ;) 8BFA918C-3BEF-4ED8-BE59-B56545B44EB3.jpeg

I have a question to ask y’all might be able to help me with. My buddy and I were talking and I said I want to wide white it and steel painted wheels with caps and rings. He said it will never look good because mine is a late 60s early 70s hot rod and it needs black walls and mags as it sits. This car was taken apart and put in a basement before that period. I want it to be a 50s period hot rod myself. I still have split wisbones front and back straight axle and monoleafs. What makes the difference between a 50s hot rod and a late 60s hot rod? It doesn’t matter what he says anyway if I want white walls and painted rims that’s what I am getting for it. I want it to be as period correct as possible and still be able to cruise it anyplace I want to go.

I agree with your buddy, sorry. It can be made to look good with whitewalls and trim rings but you would have to change the interior and put the chrome back on. I have a 3w stuck in time myself. 90's look, bright blue, grey tweed interior, big and littles, etc. but I hate to spend a fortune changing it back so I just enjoy all the money the last guy spent on it.

  26. Yeah, just looks more "slate grey" in this shot to me. Just curious.

But that's the way Folkstone does.
