Do you want us to guess what you're talking about?

Most 39 cars used bulb and reflector lamps in many different shapes and sizes. Most 40s production cars used 7 inch, round sealed beams. Many aftermarket manufactures made retrofit kits to replace the 39 style with sealed beams. Many states mandated these to be fitted to 39 cars sold in 40.

I believe they fit but you need 39 buckets too and the lens and ring etc-then install a kit with reflector for modern lights--did a 39 woody with a kit from Drake I recall-worked well

Olscrounger is correct as usual. I used the Bob Drake parts to convert my 39 which had 40 headlights to 39 Ford style lights with halogen light bulbs. They have been in service for about 18 years now.

Guess he thinks Fords were the only cars made then. Everyone knows what assume means..
But no a set of 39 Chevrolet headlights will not fit on a 40. The 40’s are on the fenders and the 39’s are on the grille support.:p

  7. In hot rod world cars need only be referred to by year. Because in hot rod world, they are Fords.

Thanks, I'll look it up. I like the 40 lights..nice and all, but they look busy. The 39s were so slick!

Do you know where the GM guys are when the fords are on the race track? They're sitting on the fence talking about how fast their cars are.
