    I’m not sure but those heads might have been used on a John Powers fuel funny car, or the idea was copied by someone else. Dan Geare was the brains behind Powers cars and the two plug Chevy heads were one of his early experiments.
    Powers and Geare kept the car and trailer at Merle Mangles shop in Cicero, IL when they were match racing in the Chicago area. Austin Coil worked at Merle’s sometimes and he thought something was up, Geare always had the cap and wires off the mag when the car was there. Coil eventually realized that Geare was a very early proponent of the 4-7 firing order swap, he probably barred the engine over and watched the valve events when Geare wasn’t around. It was Geare’s belief that the trick was easier on the rod bearings.

  7. The engine is out of an Australian land speed car (minus blower) that went 270 mph, the block can go anywhere from 500 ci up to 780 ci from what I read, made 1,097 hp in naturally aspirated trim.
    I thought it was rather interesting with the placement of plugs, you would think if someone was designing a new head they would automatically go to hemi style.
