The cowl vent was leaded in and rusted out. I went ahead and cut it out, I can use a couple parts, but I’ll replace most of it.

It seems every 33/34 I get needs this repair. I pressed a new skin piece. There is a scupper that goes under this, thats next on the hit list.

Pressed the scupper, I should be able to reuse the brackets for mounting the vent door

Thanks, my motivation is to make them better than when I got them.

Finished up the cowl vent. I’m going to wait until I get the cowl media blasted to install it.

I got spoiled with my 3 window body I put back together. I can’t work with rusty stuff anymore.

  12. Very cool. Care to share how you pressed those pieces? Dies in a shop press or???

I made the dies for my coupe project, relatively straight forward. Had a lot of trouble with the 90’ corners blowing out when pressing. Used a combination of progressive pressing and intermittent hammer and dolly to gently stretch the corners. Ended up about half and half hand forming and die pressing. The scupper die is all metal.

Pulled the new frame rails out and cleaned them. They came with all the holes for fenders and mounting the body, but not the stock steering gearbox or shocks. Went ahead and plotted and drilled. Waiting on a 1 1/8 carbide bit for the rear shocks.

Did a few repairs to the center crossmember. Fit the crossmember in the frame. Most of the holes lined up, a couple are off...not critical ones.

I’ve been working on top irons for the project and for sale to support the project. The first set is for sale in the classifieds

Unfortunately my center crossmember stops about where my boxing plate starts.

Did a repair where someone had nibbled a larger hole for hydraulic brakes.
