Known about this car for a long time and brought it home Saturday. Customized in the 60's by Jerry Agrima when he was stationed at Vance AFB here in Enid OK for E.K."Doc" Recknagel. Both were into drag racing, notice the push bar. Was told Jerry helped work on the Playboy's CC dragster during his stay in Enid Jerry went on to run an auto repair business in Wichita Falls TX. Sadly he passed away in 2015, Doc has been gone longer than that. Very cool survivor mild custom. Thought I would share. Sent from my SM-G920T using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
My plans are to sell it as I am '71 and not the man for the job. Have too many projects already. Just wanted to do my part to make sure it didn't get parted out. Sent from my SM-G920T using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
George that is totally cool! Glad you grabbed it and hopefully you'll get it into the hands of someone who will bring it back! Duncan
Great looking car. The Pontiac side trim is a natural on these, that mesh grille and Olds headlights at the front look great and are a styling choice I haven't seen on this era Ford before but it really works. That steering wheel is a '55-only Thunderbird piece, pretty rare and has value even in the rough shape it's currently in. I hope whoever ends up with the car has the good sense to be sympathetic to it's history.
Haven't been able to id the grill. Every other cross bar was removed to give it the eggcrate look. Sent from my SM-G920T using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
That's going to make a really nice ride for someone. I've always had a soft spot for 52 Vickys but at 73 I am in that club where I need less projects rather than more. It would be a pretty nice home for my flathead though.
Would be a great project, was a good looking mild custom. I'd be interested but don't have the interest in quite that big a project, hope someone saves it!
I agree with Squablow. All the parts just seem to fit that car. I sold just the horn ring from that set up a few years ago for $300+. It was not broken, but otherwise a little rough. It certainly is a great car and I surely hope it stays intact and gets restored to its former glory.
Any idea what year olds the headlight rings are from? Sent from my SM-G975U using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
'56. Funny thing - all those neat little kustom tricks and it still has stock taillights. Some '56 Olds lenses would keep that theme going... What was under the hood?
Early Olds as memory serves, 303 or 324. Mounts still there. Some interior shots from last night. Sent from my SM-G920T using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
That has to be brought back to life, hope it finds a good home and they join the 1952-59 Ford Social Group here so we can help them out.
