JP and Jim you may want to check out the other new thread entitled "Early Corvette drag racing tips and tricks". I believe both of you could make valuable contributions and enjoy the chatter anyways.

I believe that these are all the Carol Yenter car at different times in its evolution. It raced out of the Pacific Northwest. I’m not sure if it was from Washington State or Oregon

Yes the Yenter car. Arlington WA., hills in the background give it away.

Pat, Carol Yenter was out of Olympia Washington I believe. The car started out running modified sports but she and her husband who wrenched on the car stepped up their game and ran early FX class style racing and I have read they ran nitro at times. They later switched to a more modern funny car configuration and left drag racing shortly after that. Cool car though.

The other car apart in the parking lot is Granny Goose out of Ohio. I believe this picture was taken in a motel parking lot at Indy in the late 60s although I cannot find that note, I thought I had. Car is still around looking as good as ever. Here is another picture of it at a show. GrGs 2.jpg

Here is the car today. Not sure what happened to Carol Yenter's car.

I don't think she took the Corvette to Detroit, she stayed local I believe with that one.

Actually seeing all these customized Vettes reminds me that I grew up during a great era. Some of these old Vettes cost peanuts in essence during that era and customizers used these as their canvas. I have always been a drag race guy but having grown up around my grandfather's restoration shop and realizing all of the hard work that went into these customs, I always studied them at Autorama and the like. Now when I go to Autorama and the like, I see cars of that same era, maybe not exclusively but to a large extent. There may be an occasional newer car but it is like they ran out of canvas. If anything offends me more, it may be taking cool old customs or drag cars and turning them back into numbers matching original cars. Some examples may deserve to be changed but certainly not the majority IMO. It is not all bad to show future car nuts what we did with these cars back in the 50s, 60s and 70s.
