Those two '40s are remarkably similar (post #5340).

I liked 39/40's,cool shape an lines.
I kind of owned 1/2 of one !!!! LOL
Early 1960's I had a hot rod an a custom, eat up with cars,an all my buddy's knew that, most were as well.
    "A Way Back Story"
I made a little extra $ in high school pinstriping an names on cars for cash.
I didn't need any more cars,in part do to ,no way my Dad would of let me keep anything more out back of house.
I'd get roped into helping out one or another buddy's fix his car,as they had also helped me when I was hunting parts for the two I had,or sanding my car for paint"Tom Sawyer" style LOL.
But Dave Collier ask if I could look at a old 39 Ford sedan he wanted to buy,so off we go out of town to a farm in Homestead to see what he found. I look it over, pretty good, under a lean-to by a old tractor, farmer said "It just would not start anymore." How long ago was that?"Maybe about 1955 or so". That didn't sound too bad ,we looked under hood n in side, something may of lost the war that had gone on inside, seats were a mess an it didn't smell good.
Walked around the back,an the trunk lid is gone, but no big dents, paint bad,no broken glass, Tires flat.
Dave said he had $40 cash, but Farmer LOL,not less then $80 kid!. Dave told him if it runs an tires hold air maybe!
I can see it coming,I'm getting roped in to 1/2 owner and having to make it run too. So I give Dave $40 an we go back over next weekend with tools, battery an gas. Good thing we started early, tires pumped up with our air pig, took about 5 hr. to get bitch to fire up. By that time one tire was flat again,I left Dave messing with it,an went an got airpig filled again for leaky tire. Dave's Dad was vary unhappy with how the 39 looked by the time Dave got it home. And a month later told Dave he could not park it in his front driveway at all. Dave's Dad was airline pilot an was not home much.
We had a good time driving it around, but didn't fix much,Bedspred over seats an found a tin litho beer sign close to the right size as trunk lid> with gate hinges to hold it in place. There was no way I had time to help Dave do more work,so he just drove it that way. Dave moved away about a year latter,I still don't have my $40 ,have no idea what Dave did with 39 Bang-around. I fig I got more then that fun out of helping Dave anyways! plus now another "Way Back Story"

  14. My 40 Ford Business Coupe Deluxe. Posted on another thread and found this thread. Found in a Basement 30 years ago taken apart. Split wishbones front and back mono leaf front and back straight axle tri-power Stewart Warner gauges original business coupe flip up bench. Taken most of my life to get one. A couple 41s, 41 Ford Deluxe Business coupe all ford drive train rear seat added. 41 Merc 8 Long Door coupe. Gotta love a prewar Ford. Top of my bucket list with the 40 Business coupe though. Elated

JFYI, your really nice '40 is a 5-window coupe with the flip-up front seat back and package tray, while the business coupe has a split back front seat and rear fold up seats. :)
I thought my package shelf '40 was a business coupe for many years, 'cause that's what everybody called them, but they were wrong. Same with "opera" coupe, which is the business coupe.

  25. I was REALLY tempted to use the '41 passenger column that I have in the corner of my garage in my panel truck and do the 4 speed on the column thing like I did in my coupe. Instead, I let my buddies talk me into cutting a hole in the floor instead.

Tim, that's not the coupe that used to belong to the guy in Redding is it? His name escapes me at the moment, but I put power steering on it for him.
