Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by dirt t, Oct 8, 2020.

  1. My search skills suck at best!
Is there a small V8 cap with male terminals? HEI style??
    Thanks for your time

I have one of these in my 26T coupe, SBC 355. Chinese made. ProComp, I think. It works OK. Replacement caps and rotors are available through Summit. The vacuum and mechanical advance both pull in about 22 degrees. Too much on both. I can't even get it apart to change or limit either advance mechanism. Can't get a good ignition curve set. It is getting replaced with a Dave's Small Cap HEI. A points distributor converted to HEI with adjustable advance curves.

You can buy cap and rotor also off eBay and most swap meets sell the modules for $10... I've run one on my avatar for 4 years.. I do carry an extra module, but not needed yet. s-l1600 (1).jpg

Dang, I just went to a thread I'd saved here about the same thing, a quality unit for around 130-140$, just clicked on it and got HAMB ERROR, must have strayed OT I guess.

That style cap wont work on a GM points distributor.

"saltflats", it's an HEI distributor on its own.. Not a conversion... Cap, rotor and module are all specific to this type of distributor but extras can be bought for it...
