He’s a friend of mine and he is ok, small bump on the head from hitting the steering wheel. Was hit by oncoming car making a left hand turn. Was all caught on surveillance cameras on the NAPA store that’s to the left of the fire truck in the picture . Now he needs to deal with ICBC insurance claim. He’s owned this car since 1976.

In my youth, Ma had a dust up at a stop sign, in our old Dodge. The result was similar. Our bodyman was the grandfather of a family of metal beaters. The repair took no parts, and no bondo or lead.

He did however caution Ma that next time would require a new grill. It looks like this fellow may consider something different in front of the radiator.

Gosh, I hope there's at least one skilled metal beater who can repair that.
Few and far between these days of "glue on panels".

Thanks for the info. I've seen your friends car and it was great. It will be great again. I've never had a problem with ICBC so I hope your friends situation will be ok, especially with the video evidence. No old time beatings required!

That article must refer to another green custom accident. I thought the one this thread is about was an Olds. The article refers to a Merc or is it a Merc with an old Olds grille? LOL

A lot of people think custom cars are Mercs. My Plymouth has been called a Merc.

  15. The hardest part of owning a vintage car...driving the darn things on over crowded roads with so many distracted drivers all around....

    Hope he can repair it...

Thought I would post a picture of the car in better circumstances, Deuce Days 2019 in Victoria. 5F85D750-F5C6-4D7F-82B5-4F2B4E2B3228.jpeg

  18. Either I’m just lucky or I just don’t worry about it...I just drive my old cars like any other car. If I was scared or nervous to drive them, I wouldn’t have them. Part of the fun is building them but nothing beats driving old cars for me.

I just found an Olds just like the buggered one in the pics. Less than 200 miles from the owner of the green car and reasonably priced to boot!
