I'm surprised we don't see more 37's and 38's around. They have similar design DNA as the 36 and 39/40 mixed. Growing up with an uncle with a 37 Fordor slant-back always though of them being almost modern with simple grill lines and those peaked creases on the top of the fenders. OH YEAH!

It needs a fog light right in the center of the grille down by the bumper....no??

Someone copied my 37 color here.
I’ve seen quite a few 37’s that pissy yellow since I changed my color to that original 36 color many years ago.

Yea, if you want to know what's going on in the California hot rod/custom scene, just ask Todd!

I come across and follow them on Instagram. They seem to build some very nice rides, in what seems like a short amount of time. They use @Mengestwinspeedshop on Instagram.

"With the loss of shows and most general social gatherings, that hyper speed of propagation is lost as well."

Here in the West Coast the loss of shows has become the rise of cruising. Way more people are hitting the boulevard and backroads driving their customs, hot rods & lowriders (lowriding seems to have gone back to it's roots!) Which honestly I personally enjoy way more. We traveled and had a booth almost every weekend the last few years so it's a little nice to just hop in our classic cars and cruise (all while documenting it) instead of loading up the van from show to show.

And like a couple have said the Menges Twins are located on the Central Coast not Norhtern California.

  18. a few years ago there was a thread about a kustom 38 standard https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...938-ford-coupe-henry-should-have-made.982877/ I fell in love with the lines and flow of that car. I have a sweet spot for all 37-40 fords but IMO the 37/38 standard coupe look the best kustomized, the strait horizontal lines of the grille and hood sides tie it all in for me. 39 and 40 was good the way they were. This is a beautiful car, definitely one of the bucket list rides...

37/38 never seemed to be in fashion until the last 20 years and even then you don’t really see many. Lots of people still think they are un attractive, not me however.

any how they tended to be regulars in the dirt for that reason is what I’ve gathered

We had the pleasure of meeting the Twins at the Sacramento Autorama a few years ago when they were still showing their Dodge in unfinished condition. They’re hardworking humble guys with a ton of talent. It still amazes me how fast they work while also keeping the quality really high.
