Would that be too much compression with the double hump heads?

No,not IMO anyway. If the pistons have stock compression height and the chambers are 64cc and the deck is at zero with an .040" head gasket you will be in the 10.5-11 to 1 range. Be careful about aftermarket pistons that have a shorter compression height than stock.

If you are going to buzz the motor at all, I would at least recommend the Hypereutectic pistons. There might be a little shot of giggle gas in the future, ya know? Glad to see this project resumed.

And then it was white!..... On the bottom......

I've heard the old hot rod guys used to paint the bottoms of their race cars white, so you could see better when they broke at night....... and we had some left over white paint!

Man, it needed a coat of paint. This dude is going to live outside pretty much, and it was on the cliff of rust and about to jump off! Hopefully she has another 50 years left in her now!

I did the firewall white but underneath black as it covered the places I didn't get clean.

Went down to Florida to see my dad and brother. We stopped by my dad's buddy Mike's shop "Tri Five" in North Fort Myers Fl. If you are in the area and need parts or some very professional service. Mike is your guy!

Anyway..... he had a set of 2 door sedan doors at a very fair price! These will be on the back burner..... but just in case we get the itch for a 2 door conversion!

My brother is a commercial blue crabber, and I helped weld him up a top for his boat. My first time welding aluminum...... turned out pretty decent. Hopefully is will keep some sun off him..... and some of that liquid Florida sunshine too!

We like everyone in the world have had a few weeks of furlough on our hands. So we took a whole day to try and make some progress. We got her back on the lift and staters mocking up the motor and trans.

Jeremy had never welded before, so I gave him a couple pointers and he was laying down dines in no time!!! He made a complete trans cross member from scratch!!!

That is what this project is all about!!! Hanging out with your buddies, having a good time, and learning along the way! IMG_20200623_122914963.jpg

  22. I just found this thread and read the story. Amazing to see y'all back at it. Very inspiring to also see your return to life and hotrods even after that terrible accident.

    Keep up the great work!

Well.... yesterday was TTT (Tetanus Tornado Tuesday) and we are still working on getting our straight axle steering sorted out. Last month we mocked up out steering box location and measured for a drag link. We got some parts in, but ran into a problem drilling for the box. One of the bolts for the box landed dead on the web of the stock frame rail that had been coved by the fish plates for the straight axle frame.....

We have decided that on the box side, we will weld a nut flush to the frame and the other two bolts will be through bolts.

But we all had a good time. We made some new custom shirts and ate some chicken and had a couple cold ones.

Jeremy old man'd on us and tore his achelies tendon while going up the stairs in his house...

Hopefully next month will be a little more productive!!!
