I'm going to check out a 26-27 T coupe body. It's missing the drivers door. I'm thinking that I read somewhere that 28-29 Model A truck doors are the same. Is this true or did I dream it? Thanks , Bill
Yes you are correct 1928/29 trucks, A and AA including panel delivery doors will fit 1926/27 coupes but you must modify the door hinges to fit the T .
IS THERE ANY WAY A PERSON COULD TILT THIS BODY LIKE A FUNNY CAR ? LIFTING AT FIREWALL?. Or like the ORANGE CRATE? PICTURE DETAILS? ANYBODY..?
T coupe doors are physically the same as those on the T Tudor and the A closed cab pickup. However, the hinges will vary depending on whether it is a 26 or 27. The hinges on an A pickup are usually similar to the 27, but pin size is larger in the A. The other variation can be the latch, 2 that I know of, but either can be made to fit. One is set in a rectangular impression in the door and the has one curved shape side that from memory slides inside the door. Maybe somebody can help me out with that scenario. The garnish trim from a 26 is likely to be different, but either years should fit. It is just more of a chore to match stuff up with what the other door has. As a guide a 26 T coupe should have metal internal trim/support around the rear and quarter windows compared to a 27 which is most likely to have wood in these areas. If your coupe has hinges missing you will be wise to confirm the configuration you seek from the opposite side hinge that you already have. Generally the lower hinges are the same with respect to mounting, but I have found 3 variations of top pillar side hinges in my travels. Not too difficult to make fit, but if the correct item is available obviously that would be less work. Hinges are 26 finger style, 27 cup style and A pickup cup style. Check some pic's I have attached just to confuse you some more. Have fun.
I have a 26 that I rake chopped the top 3 inches. the doors and deck lids are hard to find and when you do you expect to pay a lot. I love the t coupes, a piece of hot rod American history .
You are welcome Bill. Correction to my earlier statement about 27 and A pickup hinge pins, the T I believe has the larger diameter and the pillar side scroll that holds the pin is rolled slightly larger, so it is important to know what you are looking for if you seriously want to have everything matching.
I have the door that you are looking for. It is also listed in the HAMB classifieds PM me for pics and info. Yes the 28-29 doors are the same. Brookville Roadster sells them for $1300. Sent from my SM-G973U using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
