One of the nicer rebuilder's tags I have ever seen. At least you have some idea what you are starting with.

It's the rebuilders tag. Your engine has been rebuilt at sometime or another.

  5. I’ve had a few engines like that.
Shows what it was last rebuilt to.
Some of them will even have the year the work was done.

  6. Why not using it,,,,,,.040 over scare you ?
    It’ll go a lot more than .040 .

.040 under in the rods (throws) is more than I would like to see. Every military block I’ve ever seen had tags along with school busses.

.040 under on the rods might be time to consider calling Scat about a new crank, but it sure as hell doesn't have anything to do with any parts other than the crank.

My 59L is .120 over. Stays cool and is a monster. No worries, you have lots of meat there.

I still wouldn't assume that those measurements were still correct. I've had a few engines that had rebuild tags apart and rebuilt them again after they were worn out again.

I've seen more than one guy get all excited over those tags thinking that they have a somewhat fresh engine when most likely it was rebuilt 50 years ago and pretty well worn out again.
