trktrdsr (1).jpg Started with a nice set of mandrel bent 2x4 tube rails, a mostly complete body, four Kelsey Hayes wheels and a Model A front axle for $1750. A good deal in 2000. Seventeen months later it was a driver with a 2 liter Pinto motor and four speed and an 8" rear end. I had a lot more ambition back then than I do now.

1954 Mercury Monterey convertible that I purchased for $40.00 in 1961 when I was 14. It had a bad rear main bearing so my dad and I put a reground crank in it. Mom drove it until I turned 16. merconvert.jpg

  4. I am old. All my cars were hamb friendly until I bought a 1966 car in 1970 in my case.
First one was a 56 Ford 2 door sedan

From '87 thru '95, my main ride was a 1954 F-100, from my grandpa, thru my folks. Powertrain was not the *most* HAMB friendly (350/TH350), but the exterior was stock, although with a swapped in '56 grille. Slightly lowered and a little "California Rake." Good times were had by all.

Same car today, mostly HAMB friendly. Not hard line traditional, but I can usually squeak by if you are not looking too close.

It's still in the family, hahaha. It's currently parked at my folks' house and my nephew "owns" it.

My grandmother gave me her '58 Ford when I was about 14. I never really did much with it but I was happy to sell it for $200. I spent that a couple of years later on a non-HAMB Spitfire. It was still fun. Then life happened and I didn't get another HAMB car until 2 degrees, 3 houses, 3 kids and their college educations and 35 years later. Got there in the end, though.

Funny, I’ve had nearly 100 cars over the last 38 years and I have only owned one H.A.M.B. friendly vehicle. And to boot my wife bought it for me and technically owns it! And I have been told it’s not even H.A.M.B. friendly by several members here (it’s a 64 GTO) but it’s a non original hot rod and I’m still here almost 2 years later. Randy

I have had a 39 Chev Tudor, 39 Buick Coupe, and several A Bones that I did attempt to get to the road but failed due the Hurdles I could not leap...

This Inspired Circa 1963 below which I see as a primitive escape...I bought near turn key...

It is my 1rst Drivable Hotrod...It feels good...I was out tonight...really cooling down especially after Sundown which is much much earlier with it being Fall...;)

  29. Very first car was a 29 Ford coupe but it never saw the road. Two days before my 16th birthday I bought a 50 Ford crestliner for 50 bux. My dad and I yanked the cracked 8BA and we built a 53 Merc engine for it. Photo is taken about 15 minutes after we towed it home on a rope with the family 55 Olds sedan, 4/16/1964 Rockysfirstshubox1.jpg
