Hi Guys After a very long way (15 years) and a first session of body modifications that ruined the car, here is my '49 chevy in primer (originally a fordor). Here a list of body modifications, although I have probably forgotten some : - 2 door conversion with B-pillars moved rearward - Top-chop 4" front 6" rear - Pancake of the roof 1" - Sectionning of the beltline 1" - Curved door posts and B-pillars - New windshishield bay for two flat glasses based on shoebox design - Original dashboard modified to fit the new windshield bay with the cluster in the centre - Lengthened trunk - Pancake of the trunk - Lowered trunk area - Lengthened quarter panels 3" with modified and reversed '49 Buick taillights - Custom shaped fender skirts - '54 Ford front and rear bumpers modified and lenghtened to fit the body (and inversed... front in rear and rear in front) - '53 Kaiser bumper guards with exhausts in the bullets - Modified '50 Mercury grill surround with shortened '55 Oldsmobile floatting grille - Original modified hood welded in one piece with rounded corners and V shape near de windshield - Shaved doors - Shaved gas door - Frenched headlights - '54 Ford front wheel arches - Raised rear wheel arches ........
Quality and Time certainly are related...it's really coming together @Madmath...just wondering if buddy behind your ride to the left might have been better off using the garage door entry rather than driving through the wall...
I love the peak at the front of the roof that obviously carries down to the 'V' at the rear of the hood. Great work!
All in all, very nicely done, I wish I could crank out body work like you do, just another case of "it sucks to be me"
The tail lights fit the rear fenders great ! The whole car looks like a nicely cool custom build. Keep up the good work and have fun with it.
Are you planning to stay with a simple, solid paintjob? I like the color; reminds me of antique Indian motorcycle red (maroon?).
First of all, sorry for my bad english, I don't studied it a lot here in Belgium. Secondly, many thanks to all for your comments, that proves to me I was not so bad with my ideas I have a ton of pictures of the (rebuild) so, if you want, no problem for me (and it's not a bondo car lol) No, I need the garage door for my chevy It's my BBQ It was the goal, a lot of modifications but not too extreme or "rat" while maintaining a good and smooth line I understand, maybe I could update the thread title with something like "no scary fuc**** rat" Me too, it was an old idea (more than 10 years ago) to reverse the buick taillights but it's my kustomizer who decided to shortened it, and I really like that Well seen, the little details that make the difference Don't forget, it's not my job but the job of my kustomizer Yes, but mine was blue My first choise is a mettalic gold paint (not a candy), but I really like the primer job and I think it will be difficult for me, when the car will be finished and reliable, to dismount it again fir the paint... waint and see Yes, you're right, the Jesus' one was my first influence years ago, but I tried to go further to really change the original line of the car and I'm really happy with the result. I think I didn't devised anything but some details change all I think
Yes especially since the top-chop has been done twice, the first had (+/-) the same look but with too much errors to have a good finish
Wow! What a nice car. I am not generally a fan of custom cars but this is something really special. Well done!
