Anyone know where I could call and buy the current issue of TRJ?

TRJ is sold out, seems like Barnes and Noble no longer carries it, I’ve called Pete and Jakes but they only have back issues.

    Help!

The press run was probably normal but many magazines were lost with the new distribution house using inferior envelopes. With damaged and lost magazines having to be replaced that put a dent in available stock.
As @jetnow1 said - subscribe, that’s your best bet. You get all the issues and save money too.

I’ll be resubscribed for the next issue.

I agree, I just didn’t want to miss an issue between subscriptions.

  9. #84 should be out soon. Can't say if any copies of #83 are still available.

    Good idea!

  17. Anyone know how many TRJ issues we have received in 2020? Will #84 be the fourth? Doesn't seem like it but I may be wrong.

I pick up TRJ at a newsstand as my experience with subscriptions is that quite often they arrived beaten. I just went to their site and looked at the cover art gallery. No I appreciate '32s and I have a 5W waiting its turn but bugger they sure use it on a majority of covers. A large majority... you'd think they would get a little more creative or maybe they are just feeding a perceived addiction?

Sounds like a HAMB relay is required.

I'm weird, but one thing I like about the subscriptions, is on occasions I can have both covers. Such is the case with the Pete and Jakes issue and a couple of others. But I agree, the USPS has seem to have had taken that day's aggession out on my copy of TRJ.

You would think that the folks who already have paid for a life time
subscription would be the first to receive issue #83.

    Did that happen?

WOW! Looks like poor management by TRJ.
Folks pay for something in advance and then don't receive it.
    Not good. Doesn't inspire confidence.

I think TRJ should print another run of #83.

  25. ...I've subscribed forever and to get my last issue took 3 tries by RJ,...first envelope arrived empty and torn up, 2nd try I got the envelope with only the poster inside, envelope never sealed shut;...3rd try was thru USPO Priority mail envelope,...all ok then.
...hoping they go back to using the original white cardboard envelopes, only one problem with those in 82 issues .
...love their magazine (book to me, much more than a magazine)

Why would you think that, and why should their service be any different?

The service shouldn't be any difference. Should be the same for everyone.
I am just curious as to how it was decided to whom the #83 issue would be sent.
Perhaps, there wasn't any intentional decision made at all and the magazine was just mailed out
as usual with some parts of the country receiving issues first and others later on.
I can see where what I first said seemed to imply a "hierarchy" of preferential treatment for a special group
and for that I apologize. ALL TRJ subscribers should be treated equally.

Yeah you’d think they’d have anticipated a world wide pandemic stranding the magazines in a ware house on the other side of the country for a month and the postal service getting all kinds of weird at the same time.

what a bunch of lazy pricks.

I mean 5 guys should be plenty to move a small business across the country, get set up, move all production to America and then while skipping coffee break figure in fail safes in case the world falls apart to make sure everyone gets there hot rod magazine.

lol geez guys I know every ones all wrung out, and I’ll be first to say I wait every day at the mail box for hot rod stuff coming my way.

but this isn’t some mega fortune company with the vast empire with unlimited resources.

it’s a small business in the middle of a pandemic. It seems typical that threads about the new issue are always posted wondering where there copy is and then when it arrives it’s the coolest thing they’ve seen. So when I recently subscribed I just kinda figured There would be a lag and it would be worth the wait.

it’s just some guys trying to do there best. They can’t hand deliver each one to you, though some times it seems like that may have been faster lol.

    cut them some slack

@Tim said it best- cut them some slack

We are 3/4 of the way into their 26th year, so we should be receiving issue 103 next. By that standard if it was a monthly we would be 55 issues behind and I wouldn’t stand for that. But TRJ is different and always worth the wait, enjoy it for what it is.
