My dad knew that car. It was Mr Pepsodent, as in the tooth paste. On the rear it said "you'll wonder where the yellow went," the toothpaste slogan at the time. Hard to see in the picture, but the bulge in the quarter panel is actually moved forward into the door so it wouldn't look out of proportion.
There where some heavy hitters in street machines from '64-'69 that NEVER made magazines, aside from what few had readers rides sections. I've always been a fan of the jacked up/ altered street look.. would enjoy seeing more return from garages or under tarps!
Here I thought it said, "My Playstation" as a sarcastic twist to the video game web site.. Figured it was just a lousy picture, taken in more modern times..
40 years ago, there used to be a 51 Chevrolet, 2 door sedan that used to cruise Everett. It was't an AWB car, but was painted red, white, and blue; had a 421 Pontiac in it, along with an Olds/Pont 9.3" rear end. I "believe" it was a 4 speed car, but it has been a long time ago. Just one more reason why I should have kept my 51 Chevrolet Business Coupe. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
I remember one back home("OHIO") called the "Boss Banana" Yellow 1957 Chevy no front bumper or grill just the trim on hood and front fenders ,chrome straight axle and front suspension , Red glass and a "MOON" tank where the grill used to reside ,don't know the details on the engine but it was wicked sounding, when ever it was on the street I may have been 8-10 years old back then in the 70s
When they touch down it's not unusual for one side to compress more than the other, and suddenly you're going sideways. Solid mounted bars tend to keep the car pointed in the right direction.
Woah! I knew somebody would know about it. That's hilarious about the toothpaste thing. Looks like a well-built car.
How cool is that?! The fact that stuff like this ever happened blows my mind. It's up there with this for the most badass hot rod hearse of all time.
I have heard about this car and have seen one other picture. It was a well known car back in the day from Northern New Jersey area.
That scoop looks an awfull lot like one from a max wedge Mopar. I wonder if its packing max wedge power?
