I am installing a 60hp flathead in my 1937 ford coupe. I want to use the 85 hp transmission. I am also using the original 37 closed driveshaft.i did a search, but just confused my old brain even more! Thanks for any help. I recently sold my 1955 tbird, so I wanted ONE more hotrod!

the big v8 trannys are different mount pattern. there was however a commercial trans for the 60 that does use the same gear sets as the big boys

85hp trans will bolt to the 60 horse motor , but the case must be notched for starter c!earance.
Common fix once upon a time.

I have a 1940 v8-60 and I bolted it right up to my 39 trans with no problem.

The commercial V8-60 trans is a good clean solution to using later Ford and Zephyr gears behind a 60. Too many guys don't get it that the 73-7006 case has to be paired with the correct longer clutch fork or a jam is likely. Make sure you get that special fork! Too many of the hatchet jobs are just that, where using a 78 or other V8 case behind a 60. Cast iron is often difficult to work with. Good Luck: Fred A
